So I washed my face with warm water and sea salt this morning, because my mom told me to try it. lol.

But now i'm confused, I remember having read that iodized salt is bad for acne?

And i'm using it for my face so...

Should I buy sea salt without iodide? or does it not really matter?

Anyone else tried this?

I never saw that sea salt causes acne. I always add sea salt into my recipes.

I think some people have tried it with great result.

so the iodide component doesn't make a difference?

because i've read mixed things to do with iodide.

and i'm puttint it directly onto my face, not in my food or anything..

Before taking or topically applying anything, one golden rule you should always stick to is

'Patch Testing' and everything in moderation.

Saying that however. Iodide applied neat on the skin, regardless of acne or not should be administered very lightly. I also recc that you ask a professional i.e dermatologist or even your local GP about it first. you may in some cases be allergic or react to the agent.

I do think that Sea Salt is very beneficial as a cleansing agent, and iodide is well known for its Antioxidant properties.

Hope this helps you some. I'm sure there are far more qualified and clued up individuals here that will assist ;)

I only contributed what I know, and have personally experienced. so don't take my word for it.

Worrying over things like these is probably aggravating your acne more than the tiny amount of iodide in sea salt. As far as I know there is no scientific evidence showing that iodide (or iodine) causes acne, unless you are hypersensitive or bury your face in it.

Your forehead? :shifty:

Omg I'd never be That brave!

lol

I suggest your forearm, or under your arm where No one can really see!

this will give you an idea of how it might affect the surrounding skin. you also should only use a tiny amount to begin with. but I fear i'm already to late in posting this as you've probably lathered your face in it by now

Oh well, just Do be Careful!

Not iodine derivatives used in topical solutions.

Even better for your skin then applying sea salt is to get outside and sweat alot... The salty sweat clears my skin up everytime combined with the sun.
