Can someone explain to me how red marks fade, because I've had mine for over a year and a half now with NO end in sight and I don't see how they can magically just get lighter from here... anyone care to explain this phenomena?

really it depends on the level of damage, superficial acne such as white heads and small pimples (not pustules) might leave a red/brown mark thatll last a few weeks and if the damage is deeper months. Cystic acne and really bad pustules tend to leave me with marks that takes 2-4 years to completely fade (if not a deep scar). Whiteheads and small pimples the red/brown mark might disappear as little as a week or even no mark at all. Cystic acne is hell errrrrr

pretty much anywhere you look will say its PIH but in reality its not entirely true. Its also damaged tissue that has to remodel itself and mature. My really old redmarks from cystic acne are red and raw(damaged tissue) for a long time then turn brown(PIH) whenever the marks turn brown i turn to stuff like AHA, TCA peels, retin-a which will help remove the PIH but these do jack to the red mark of damaged tissue.
