Not sure if this is the right forum...

But anyways, I've been using only BP products for the last 7years of my life, and as i get older my acne only seems to be getting worse.

Washing my face now with BP would probably be the same as washing my face with normal soap.

Have I grown immune to Benzoyl Peroxide after using it for so long,

is it possible for p.acnes to grow immune to it?

Moved to the Over-The-Counter Acne Medications board.

From the Acne.org FAQs:

Q: Will my skin become resistant to the beneficial effect of BP?

A: Propionibacterium acnes (P. acnes), the bacteria in acne lesions, cannot survive in the presence of oxygen. BP creates oxygen. Therefore, it is physically impossible for this bacteria to develop a resistance. If the Regimen works at first, it should always work.

Ive experienced a reduced effectiveness from BP too..but I havent been using it as long as you or even on a daily basis though i did have periods where i just piled that stuff on individual zits, many times a day. Why wouldnt the bacteria develop an immunity?

p. acnes cant survive in the presence of oxygen, which benzoyl peroxide creates. Therefore, you have not become immune to it.

Your acne isn't becoming immune but your skin may be becoming more sensitive as you age. The BP could be aggravating or drying out your skin more than before. Try going down to 2.5% or even 1% and using a gentle cleanser such as Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser.

Maybe you need to up the amount you put on your skin. That seems to be the trick to the regimen apparently.

Do you only wash your face with BP or do you use it as a leave on as well?
