Facials. DO they help at all?

Recommended Posts

hi, i am going to get a facial tuesday, it is specifically targeted for acne. Have you ever had one? i am just wondering if it helps or at least makes your skin better? I am breaking out again. So do facials help your acne?

i am getting one of those, well what i am getting basically is a one hour treatment with deep cleansing, mask and stuff like that. I've never done this before so i dont know i hope my face wont be red because i heard thats whats going to happen. And i hope they wont pick my pimples cause that would hurt. I will definitely let you know, i dont understand why people dont get facials, i mean its not that expensive, only 80 bucks for me. But if it helps i am going to get facials every freaking week, but thats only if it helps me with my acne

I think facials are like anything. It could work or it could make you break out even more. I know one thing, they feel REALLY GOOD!

i got a facial once..it was amazing! it made my skin soft and buttery smooth..only problem was that the spa i got the facial at was out of my country! i've been looking for a good facial place in Montreal Canada.

It depends what kind of facial.

They do extract all the comedones and blackheads and you will be redder for a few days after but soon the acne will come back, maybe a little worse or the same.

Give it a shot and see how it works out. Maybe it will help you and it will be a step to being clear.

i used to specialize in facials for a high end salon/spa. they DO work but make sure you get ones with extraction if you're mostly worried about pimples and blackheads.

Mine does the extractions. I've noticed that my skin is better when they leave the mask on longer afterward. The last time I was there, she was doing facials on my friend and I at the same time, so the mask was on a lot longer than usual - my face was barely red at all afterwards.

and yes - she does find ones I didn't even know were there.

I tend to ask the person who does the facial if they won't extract comedones because I find that for me, it makes my acne worse. Red marks everywhere (they find comedones you didn't even know existed) and my pimples just multiply afterward which is why I don't squeeze. Not all beauticians will do extractions in a facial, it depends what they're taught and what they think is best for the skin.

well my facial experience was not pleasant. OK, i hear people say all the time how nice and relaxing it is to get facials, but i guess that wasnt meant for acne facial. First she steamed my face for a long time, she put lots of stuff on my face. Then she started popping pimples. I liked the way she did it. It was gentle, she used a tiny niddle too. But she was very gentle. of course she was trying to sell me her products which i didnt buy, they'd say anything to sell you that shit. But anyway, my skin got little bit, just a tiny bit. I actually didnt realize how many blackheads i had on my nose. She was squizing them all, and it hurts. Specially on the tip of your nose. Well, i broke out the next morning and i still have pimples. But i've decided not to pop them anymore. I wish they would invent something that would stop pimples immediatly. Wouldnt that be cool? I'd buy it no matter how much it cost. But i am sure i will go back and do facials again, just because i know the first time it wont change anything. After at least five visits i will see the difference. And i recommend to everyone with acne problems to get a facial. Think about all the shit thats on your face, you think its clean because you use different cleansers and creams but its not. Facials wont hurt, i am going to get a facial next week, only this time iwill try a new place

facials helped IMMENSELY with my acne. i had a few weeks of facials last summer to help clear up the horrible acne i had, and all my acne cleared from it. it was painful, however. the facialists would deep cleanse my skin, extract all the zits and blackheads, use a variety of masks, face massages, and she'd put me on a strict BP regimen (bp scrub cleanser, 10% bp lotion, and sunscreen/moisturizer). the reason why she made me use such strong dosages of BP was so that my skin will peel to get rid of the scars and also to kill the acne. my skin peeled sooo much, and i ended up with a very pale face that summer. i also gained a few moles because at first i didn't know i was supposed to wear sunblock. however, my skin cleared up completely .... but it would've stayed completely cleared if i had continued getting facials. because it was so expensive, i had to stop, and went on DAN's regimen which continued to keep my skin pretty clear.

so if you want to get your skin clear quick and continue on a regimen on keeping it clear, i suggest you get the facials, wait for skin to be clear, then continue on Dan's regimen.

the one i went to hurt like hell, the pain was really like at the dentist with him cleaning your teeth. it was pretty unbareable and it wasnt a very pretty sight afterwards.
