Is either less harsh?

I cannot use BP, so my derm gave me a glycolic acid face wash (glytone cream wash - not a prescription just something they carry in her office)

Would she have done this because it is less irritating and better for sensitive skin, or are we just playing a guessing game.. and trying out every product til I run out of them? or out of skin?

btw, salicylic acid turns me red, but is not nearly as bad as bp. Surprisingly differin and retin-a aren't too bad on me. My first time around they turned me pink/red and I didn't like it and stopped, but i just started up again with retin-a (in ziana) and it actually seems fine!
