Please help me guys n gals

Recommended Posts

hey people, i need some advice real talk.

I have folliculitus / light but persistant and it causes redness and white plugged pimples at the base of the hair. this is mainly in my facial area beard area. although there are two right now on my left and right arm. also have one on my chest.

it used to be much worse than this.

I went to the doctor when it had flared up really bad after i shaved dry with a new electric shaver.

he wants me to take 2 weeks course of Eythromycin 1000mg a day.

I am VERY RELUCTANT to take this, since a, i dont think its bad enough and feel a topical of some kind would work and b) i took anti biotics before and i think in the long run its caused this..

SO my problem is i DO NOT KNOW whether or not its BACTERIAL or FUNGAL.

therefore i dont know what PRODUCT or PILL i should take

At the moment I am using MANDELIC acid and Skinoren, also germolene, bee propolis head and shoulders in the shower. I am also based in the UK.

what on earth should I do? Im really desperate here :( i want it GONE for good. im fed up of these acne spots caused by the folliculitus

any serious replies and sound advice is much needed. I appreciate everything said!

If you think a topical will do the trick than why not try it first? The worst thing that could happen would be not achieving the results you had hoped for, right? If the topicals don't work than you can always do the two week course of Eythromycin later on.

yeah thats it, i have nothing to lose with the topicals i suppose.

Fucidin cream my dad gave me, he used it for impetigo, i have read online do not use fucidin if for fungal folliculitus, but cant remember the source.

Id really like to see a skin specialist which i am trying to get my dad to arrange. it will probably cost but since i feel i am so close to the light at the end of the tunnel i just want the best advice and then follow what ever route that person proposes

in the mean time, any good topicals to try? ive been using mandelic acid 10% and its drying and flaking my skin, which cant be good can it :(?
