There are a lot of important informal messages that I would like to keep. There's an option on the menu (to the left of your messages) that says 'Archive Messages'. If you click that, it'll take you to a page where you can choose to have up to the last fifty messages from your inbox, sent messages, or both sent to the email you joined with. If you have more messages than that, you might have to have several emails sent. Just have the last fifty sent, then delete them (there's an option to have them auto-deleted when the email is sent), then do the next fifty after that, and so on and so forth until all of your messages are archived.
