Spontaneous Scarring Condition - AMVC - Atrophia Maculosa Varioliformis Cutis - Pitted Scars Suddenly Appearing - Not Acne

Recommended Posts

Praise, it sucks to hear you have a new scar every time I check the updates on this thread. Has your scars lessened after decreasing on your omega 3 and vitamin A at least?

Has anybody besides the OP has success with lowering omega 3 and vitamin A yet?

Yeah its very sad and Im kind of depressed at the moment! Im pretty sure the scarring has nothing to do with vit a or omega 3, even thou Im not sure! I have e-mailed several scientists here in Gothenburg Sweden, to see if they can help me(doubt it). I havent had any scars now since my last update since I have started this special moisturizer with anti inflammatory ingredients, maybe this could be it? If this doesnt help Im going to start with the mirtizapine..My last option.

Has anyone else here tried what Freedom has done to get rid of this AMVC problem ? does it work ?
I'm less than a month into Freedom's "regimen" and haven't seen any effect from it yet, though I do not have AMVC scarring but rather skin that suddenly has become fragile and scars from every pimple. I need more time before I know if this will stop the scarring or not.

heya quirky, you sound a lot like me. im scarring after a lot of pimples too. ive done some research and the only type that typically scars are the really inflammed ones. i found today it is infact cystic acne. if you are scarring too perhaps you have it too. you might want to get it checked out and put on the right drugs before you start scarring dreadfully.

I get an acne cyst maybe once per month, but am scarring from "normal" pustules and papules, which make up the majority of my acne along with comedonal acne. It's really weird! I went to the derm in February and she gave me a retinoid and Aczone to use which haven't done much yet, but I'm still hopeful because they can take up to three months to work. But I agree that anyone who is scarring should see a derm, STAT. There's only so much you can do on your own.

Your using a retinoid? You know many people have reported scarring when using retinoids?

I have been on doxycycl and it cleared my skin up pretty good. While I have been on it I have been getting a ton of scars all over my face. They look just like major pop marks anywhere from little tears to half dollar sized indentations. Ruining my face fast. I just started taking fish oil and but this has been going on the last month or so. I don't know whats causing it or what it is from.

My family has dermatitis so I though maybe the doxy someone made the underlying dermatitis start to come forth. I don't know what to do

Mu skin also has a pinkish hue and any acne I do get scar me instantly. Im getting dark deep scars in areas without any acne atall.

Yep, a very mild one (Renova cream .02% tretinoin). I know people have reported scarring while using retinoids, but people have also reported scarring while using Accutane, Benzoyl peroxide, or even when leaving their skin alone. I scarred constantly long before I started the retinoid. I know that salicylic acid and tea tree oil cause me to scar badly, too, so what options do I have left for stopping the acne? I figure the retinoid at least offers a chance of rebuilding my skin and healing the acne...I really wish there were another way, though.

@ Chris1337: My skin is also very pinkish; it's almost like I have a bumpy punk rash all over my face in addition to the acne. I believe that this chronic facial inflammation has something to do with my increased rate of scarring. I too scar instantly from every pimple; I can see the dent starting to form as soon as the pimple does, and many pimples leave indents that are wider than the original pimple was, as well.

I dont think so, just stop the retin A. When you have been off Retin A for about 2 weeks, and you still get scars come back here so we can help you.

i just started today, im wary of taking too much though..

I was curious because I got diarrhea the first time I tried primrose oil, so I thought that might have been the cause of your problem. Definitely start slow with that stuff, though. I'm not trying to scare you but I'm losing hair now and my hormones are all wonky; I think it may be from taking too much.

hmm, you sure its the evening primrose and not something else? ive been taking around 10 tablets a day for the past month and i havent had any problems at all. im definitely not losing hair and i very occasionally get diarrhea, except this morning but i had a speech to do. if anything, evening primrose is supposed to level out your hormones, so you should be starting to feel more normal that you usually do. i had a blood test a week ago and it came back better than ever.

id go and see a doctor about the losing hair. perhaps its male pattern baldness, im assuming your a guy?

@ davidst: Not really clumps, but definitely more than before. Maybe 30-50 strands per day, along with some eyelashes and eyebrow hairs here and there. Definitely TMI, but by "wonky hormones" I mean that I missed my monthly "visitor" (I'm a girl) and I also missed it the last time I took primrose as well, so I know it definitely does SOMETHING to my hormones. I took 5 primrose and 2 borage capsules for a bit more than a week, and have reduced the dosage to 2 borage and 1 primrose and am still losing hair at the same rate. The first time I took primrose I only took 2 capsules a day and it still messed me up a bit.

@ cartwheeling_monkey: I'm a girl, so I hope to God it's not male pattern baldness or I'm really in trouble! The hair loss could be due to stress, but it came on very suddenly and soon after I started the GLA supplementation (within a few weeks) and like I said it messed up my hormones, so that makes me think it's messing with my body somehow. It could also be the tretinoin cream (Renova) I'm using, but I really doubt a topical that is sometimes used to HELP hair loss would cause it...

Freedom or anyone who knows, please answer my question

Am I at risk of increased sensitivity to scarring if I take fish oil even though I have never been on accutane or any retinoid? I'm sorry if this has been answered but there is a ton of info on here and I recently have been taking one fish oil a day for a week and it has seemed to practically eliminate my dandruff issues (yeah! so happy). But now I am so scared cause of the deficiency of the 06 and dont want to stop it because I hate dandruff.

Also, I was drinking Ensure Plus shakes to help me gain some weight over the summer last year. It has O3. A few months later, my hair fell out. I believed it was due to my severe depression/stress at the sight of these indents in my skin that I never had before. I thought it was the Neutrogena Acne mark fading peel that caused the scars (or maybe revealed them because I never used a peel before, but I dont even think this product could actually be considered a peel). But now, do you think that the Ensure Plus drinks caused me to scar and lose my hair?

Should we all just use one supplement with all the omega fatty acids?

You sound like me, except I used a retinoid. I think it was the Neutrogena Acne mark fading peel that made you scar... I stopped using anything that would make my skin peel, and I still drink Ensure since I lost a lot of weight from my depression/stress because of my scars. I think your scars were already there, but they were under a couple layers of skin - thus revealing the damaged skin underneath. But that's just my opinion.

Have you seen a doctor? That must be really scary.

Also, I'm starting to think that stress probably contributes to this condition, and scarring in general. Stress damages your collagen, leading to wrinkles, so I don't see why it couldn't lead to scarring as well. I know it's hard to try to relax when your face is getting scarred, but it may be necessary to help stop it.
