What exactly is genetic predisposition to acne?

I know my acne is genetic, Im genetically predispositioned to get acne since my mum used to have fairly bad skin and so did one of her sisters, although my dad has always had beautiful skin (even now).

Anyway my question is what exactly is a genetic predisposition? Does it mean our hormones are genetically programmed to go haywire? Or does it mean our skin is simply more susceptible to acne due to a (genetic) sensitivity of acne bacteria? Or maybe our skin is extra sensitive to sebum??
