That old chestnut - Diet...

Recommended Posts

Hey Guys...

Sorry to go over this one again, and again

If diet does cause acne, then how come people who eat poor diets can have perfect skin, yet those who eat amazingly clean have acne?

Id love to get this clear in my head...

Thanks

John

Everyone's body reacts differently to various kinds of foods. I also believe many people with acne unknowingly have a candida overgrowth, so if they consume sugar and carbs they will break out.

Like anonymous stated - someone suffering from acne could have candida, which would contribute to their skin problems especially when they eat certain foods. People without candida may not have these same issues.

Also, even if someone may not have candida, diet still affects things like hormones and such. Certain people may simply have sensitivities to some foods and develop acne while others may not have sensitivities and are able to consume these foods without any problems.

It's not necessarily about what we eat. It's about how our bodies REACT to what we eat that triggers acne. Different bodies react differently to different things.

Because some people are genetically inclined to get acne and some aren't. Same reason why some people get obese, cancer, diabetes, high blood pressure and some don't. Some people smoke their whole lives and don't get lung cancer. Does that mean smoking doesn't cause cancer?

The other answers so far aren't quite right as they only mention a few of the many, many ways diet affects acne. http://www.acne.org/messageboard/Good-Acne...es-t230714.html
