scarring is normally raised or indented. Because you have mentioned that the marks are red and flat - it sounds like post inflammatory hyperpigmentation which in the case of acne is referred to as macules. If it is a macule the redness is temporary and will fade slowly over 12 months or so. Ahas and Bhas will help slough off the skin faster and therefore reduce this time to some degree.
