How ya feelin' about your acne today?

Recommended Posts

It's been a while since I visited this forum! I've been clear for a while with 1-2 zits sometimes. I thought I would break out a bit in the summer as usual, but so far, so good. My acne scars are improving! I still see some dark spots from previous acne.

I hope you all are doing great!!

I think I have a date tomorrow with this tall vegan girl. We've been talking for 2-3 days, not a lot since she's a busy girl. She's very smart and a model.. I feel like I have no match to her.. :\ We're both vegan and have a lot in common though! but I dunno, I feel like it will go bad.. lol . I am not good at this.

I will need some good tips :]

If the girl has agreed to go on a date with you she must like you so you have already won her over to a certain extent.

The best thing I can advise is just be yourself and don`t try to put on an act - it won`t work in the long term. Try to stick to to common interests like being vegan to begin with and you will find that if you start talking about things you both have an interest in, conversation will flow from there.

Good luck!

Feeling better today. No active pimples as of right now, just one that is healing and a cystic one which is gradually receding. The hyperpigmentation is the worst, though....so annoying! I seemed to stop a little zit right in its tracks too. Not sure how I did...I just did my normal routine tonight and afterwards, the redness and bump was gone.

Today's been a better day than yesterday. I'm going on vacation in two days with my family abroad which will be fun. I've decided I'm going to wear just a tiny bit of makeup to the airport just so I'm not constantly thinking about my skin. I'm only going to wear concealer on the spots that are healing and that's it. So I won't feel as self conscious and meanwhile I won't be suffocating my skin on the plane either. I'm also going to think about my skin as least as possible while abroad. I'm going to cherish my time with my family and take in all of the sights and places. :)

I'm seeing a gyno in a week so that is progress hopefully coming up soon. I hope to get put on either a good birth control or Spiro. I've also talked with my mom about seeing a well known derm who lives not too far from us, and surprisingly, she agreed. So I'm going to call tomorrow and see if I can get an appt. She's well known for her treatments with Spiro, so I would most definitely be able to get a prescription from her.

I may not be having the best skin right now but it's healing and it's on its way to being better. Time is unpredictable and who knows what my skin will look like from now. Could look 100x better. Just gotta take one day at a time.

I broke out on my chin, but I feel pretty good. I'm really done with letting it get me down anymore and I don't have to go anywhere today...

Feel like this 'truly gentle' cleanser I'm using is drying me out a little, logic?! The slogan is 'as gentle as water'.

All-in-all, not great, but I'll live!

Think I'm going to get some acne.org AHA+, I would love to do the whole regimen, but I never seem to keep on it long enough to adjust. Flake city makes me quit.

My skin's been looking pretty great. It may have something to do with the fact that I've started having a 1/4 teaspoon (about a gram) of Vitamin C powder in a glass of water every day.

I feel like shit today. :'(

I was getting ready to go to church, then I put my glasses on and looked at the mirror and I see tons of red marks and flakes on my skin so I ended up staying home. I've been doing Dan's regimen (on my 4th week) and some of my acne have been eliminated but I'm left with these ugly red marks on my cheek that I know for sure won't go away for a couple of months. I think I'm done with life.

Oh dear. Don't even ask!

Major breakout and happened so suddenly, must be going through my hormonal spike.

I need a new game plan. Nothing is working long-term and I need to clear this up, my confidence is slowly returning to 0.

Do I;

  • Try the regimen again - I have never truly committed to the regimen and I never really followed it well. I used way too much BP, way too fast and the moisturiser I used contained SA and wasn't really moisturising at all.
  • Go see my doctor about being referred to a derm - I'm thinking low-dose accutane? I'm not sure.
  • Go natural
  • Give up

Help guys! :)

I'm feeling hopeful! Now that I stopped using harsh products...even those I thought would help and were designed for acne skin! Castor oil, black soap, and healthy diet! Fuck flax and soy! Clearing up! Seeing my boyfriend for the first time in 6 months! Going to the Caribbean Sunday!

I'm convinced that most doctors have no idea how to treat the causes of acne. Standardized treatments only heal the acne (if even that), not the causes of it. After doing a lot of research, getting feedback from these forums, and listening to my instinct, my entire body is beginning to heal. And I didn't have to resort to antibiotics, birth control, or accutane. Phew.

You have to do the regimen right. Otherwise it's a complete waste of time. And I mean, down to every last detail. Follow the instructions word for word.

I'd really love to try all of Dans products and follow it to the T, but it's so expensive to get it here in the UK. I guess I won't attempt it until I can fully commit.

Seriously questioning if dairy causes acne. Since consuming dairy on a regular basis my skin has become clearer. Maybe dairy helps balances my hormones, don't know.

What about using drugstore products? You don't necessarily have to use his stuff. Have you read through all the information on the site? He recommends other drugstore products as well as his own, which pretty much shows he has pure intentions of really helping us. I've never in my life seen someone with a skincare company take the time to tell people how to achieve the same results without buying anything from him. Dan is truly a hero to us all.

Last time I did the regimen, I used a drugstore moisturiser and cleanser alongside Dan's BP. I had great results but I got really flaky and had to cut down on the BP. Eventually I stopped because it reached its use-by date.

The only issue is that most BP sold here comes in really tiny tubes and is nowhere near enough for the amount needed on the regimen. I bet there's literally 3 finger lengths of BP in one of those tubes...

The moisturiser I used in my last attempt wasn't very hydrating so I blame that for the problems I had. It contained Salicylic Acid so I was probably over-treating my skin.

I think I'll order his BP eventually and give it another shot :)

Yeah we have the same issues with tiny BP here, but if it's all you can do, it's worth it. I definitely think if you can only order ONE thing you should order his BP and then use a drugstore cleanser and moisturizer, but definitely one of the ones he recommends. Nothing with any acids or additional things in it. It should just be a simple moisturizer. I've also used plain grapeseed oil as a lotion in the past and achieved great results, so you could try that too. I'm sure you could get grapeseed oil at any grocery store. I currently mix it half and half with Dan's lotion. It's great for nourishing the skin and reducing wrinkles.

If you're getting flakes, lower your dosage a tiny bit until your skin adjusts and then add more. :)

If you're gonna do the Regimen, you have to follow it 100% or you'll never know if it can work for you. Also, you seem to change up your regimen a lot so stick with whatever you decide for at least 3 months (even longer if its natural). I know how frustrating it can be so keep your head up.

Hating my acne as always. Some days it seems to get better and other days it seems to be spiraling out of control. Today the redness and acne was just too much. Almost stayed home from work but changed my mind. Gotta find ways to enjoy my life which is fabulous in its own way, even with acne.

I feel two spots coming on and I started to spot treat right away. I still get really nervous about my skin because going of BC and having PCOS, I am more prone to having my acne come back. I'm a very anxious and nervous person so it is kinda stresses me out some times. I'm glad people have been really nice about it though by telling me great my skin looks. I just can't shake the feeling sometimes that it could come back.

I just got home from the 4 day festival I went to (Bonnaroo! :P )! It was super fun and my face literally became super clear after the first day. I'm not sure why.

Anyway....I felt so good not worrying about my skin and not looking at it in the mirror intensely for 4 days. It made me think that I need to stop coming to acne.org. I need a break. I'm going to take it off of my bookmarks. I need to stop thinking about it so much. I start eating whole-food vegan tomorrow (I've been a vegetarian for a couple years now), and I'm excited about a new step in my life. My goals are to run a half marathon by next year and to read more books and just be more productive in general. Acne pulls me down and I let it. My life is much more than my face and positivity is so important for my overall happiness. I can't focus on my acne so much anymore. So, maybe I'll be back one day but I must move on for now. Bye ya'll! :D Good luck with everything! You're all beautiful and deserve to feel that way!
