I think I'm going to be accutane forever...

Recommended Posts

It's been a long time since I posted on here for something about my skin..

Anyways, I started on accutane in April this year. My skin was never horrific but it was annoying. It worked wonders and I was completely clear. I went overseas in September for a couple of months, and I was supposed to be on a maintenance dose, taking like a pill twice a week. Buutt.. I kept losing track of when I'd last taken it and I was drinking like crazy so I ended up just stopping taking it at the start of October. My skin has been ok since then, couple of spots every now and again but nothing to worry about. But I thought I better go back to the derm now that I'm back and he said I should just keep going on it or I'm just going to have to go on it again later down the track. My brother is on his third course. The derm said to just like take it twice a week and then cut back to once a week and then like whenever I want to take it. I don't even have to go and see him again for another 6 months! So yeh I think I'm going to be on it for a whiiiiile. Not that I mind, I really like my hair while I'm on it :shy:

Is anyone else in that situation, taking a lose does as maintenance for like maybe years?

I have been on accutane for over three years. Unfortunately, I don't have good news to share. I take 40mg per week and it keeps me clear. However, whenever I try to quit the Accutane, my acne just resurfaces. I'm not sure what to do, but am seeing a dermatologist who's trying to help me come off of it better. If anyone has had this issue, please share what you did to help the break-outs.
