i thought i'd just throw my opinion out there, i suffered for red marks for 2-3yrs - only finished accutane in 2008 which worked well, but left me with some nasty hyperpigmentation.

i looked everywhere, got advice from everyone, and tried loads of things:

- olive oil

- urine

- aqua glycolic

- lemon juice

- aha/bha

- green cream

- gamma hydroxy

- apple c vinegar

- various dermabrasion stuff

- baking soda

- lots of pills

last week i went for my 2nd (and last) chemical peel

all of my redness is 100% gone

i just want to let people like me know just dont waste your time

get out there and get a real treatment.

good luck to all

Uhm, I wouldn't disregard it right away. Maybe you don't want to try it, but many others have. And it's worked for a lot of people. "I'm sorry", but saying 'eww' is a pretty childish thing to do.

Could you please say what percentage glycolic acid your treatment was? That would be the most helpful.

How long did it leave your face red?

the peel left me with 2 days of redness and mild peeling

after that it looked much better

the 2nd 50% peel was about the same time, i got used to it i think

after the peeling everything was gone

Is it better to go get it done at a salon, or buy one and apply it yourself?

i had my derm do peels, it was free on NHS

it took 5mins to prepare skin, left peel on for 5mins, and then 5mins to finish up.

each one takes about 15-20mins, quick and easy

but you can pay a salon do to it, glycolic peels cost between 30-50, maybe more.

or you can get your own kit off ebay, much less expensive but you need to be know

what your doing. honestly its pretty easy imo, and if i ever need one again i will do it

myself.

I didn't know you could get chemical peels free on the NHS. Did you get referred to a dermatologist by your doctor?

Have you been on roaccutane at all ?
