c'est la vigne 14 Share Posted August 14, 2009 Alpha Hydroxy Acid is a chemical exfoliant. It works by breaking down the "glue" that holds dead skin cells together so that they can be shed more easily. Some exfoliants are manual exfoliants, meaning they're manually rubbed against the skin to loosen up and scrub dead skin off.Moisturizer and AHA are different. Moisturizers are used to moisturize the skin. They do not exfoliate. Also, not all AHA's are moisturizing, but Dan specifically formulated his to be moisturizing as well as exfoliating.
