Has Anyone Else Had Alot Of Nightmares While On Accutane?

Recommended Posts

I'm not on accutane, but I did have nightmares about about my acne while not on medication. There were a couple of times I had dreams about stuff all over my face that wouldn't come off. In my dream I would claw at my face to try to force it off. On more than one occasion I actually would woke up with blood under my fingernails and scratches on my face. Acne sucks.

I have not been having nightmare.....more like night terrors!

I used to get them sporadically over the years, but now that I think of it, maybe it's

the Accutane that is making me have the night terrors MORE frequently.

About an hour or two after hitting the pillow, I usually get disturbed by something and suddenly wake up absolutely screaming my lungs off!

Sometimes when I wake up screaming I see things in my room. Sometimes I will see millions of spiders coming towards me, other times I can't even explain what I see.

The images usually go away after a few seconds.

I once woke up and saw a skeleton / demon like face staring right over me, then I screamed, and went back to sleep.

It's weird....

This happens to me maybe 4-5 times a week.

Other times my mom will hear me screaming in the middle of the night in which I NEVER remember happening....I only remember if I had just gone to bed in the past few hours.......WTF!!!

I had sleep paralysis twice on accutane... until this day it must have been the absolutely most scary moments of my life.

I remember lieing down on my bed... I heard footsteps slowly coming up the stairs. The person walked to my door and then stood there. I then heard as if he walked into my room right through the door without opening it. I was petrified... I couldn't move a muscle. My back was facing the door so I couldnt see. I heard him walk behind me and stop. He than started coming on to the bed and I could feel myself rolling back into the grooves he was making coming on to the bed. I then felt breathing on my neck... very warm and moist. I snapped out of it and flung my arm back only to see no one was there... I didn't realize it until I could move my body but I was in tears...

Oh yes, Old Hag Syndrome. Scary stuff.

I've known a few people with a similar situation.

Did you only have this happen once?

Sorry, did you have this happen any other times while not on accutane?

I find that my "hallucinations" at night are more vivid and even more scary, to the point with I scream my lungs off and my heart races really fast.

I did also.. Try taking accutane not at dinner but rather at lunch.. I tried that and it worked.. I really have not been having bad dreams since then

yes..i have 2 or 3 every night that i can remember...i never thought to link it to accutane because i've always had nightmares, but now that i think about it, they are more frequent. it has gotten to the point that i can't go back to sleep for a couple of hours after i wake up. i've reverted back to my child-like ways, checking the closets and under the bed before i sleep now because i get so scared in the middle of the night and often times think it's real.

i've had one night terror, as well...also of spiders...i woke up and saw a spider on the wall and started screaming to where my boyfriend went looking for it and found nothing. i've had night terrors in the past, too. they are the worst and they are really hard to explain to people who haven't ever had them.
