Salicylic Acid - 20% peel??

I have regularly used over the counter (Neutrogena) salicylic acid to treat my acne (my skin is not sensitive at all and I have never had irritation using this daily for my acne in the past). This past winter, due to stress, I had flair ups of acne, which are now essentially gone, but I do have some red marks/mild acne scars left from that (nothing more than superficial ones, just left behind unsightly red marks so nothing that goes beneath the superficial surface of the skin). Would a 20% salicylic acid peel would be safe for me to try out?

I have been successful with using salicylic acid at the over-the-counter strength in the past, but it can take a few months (about 6) to reduce the scars to almost clear again, and it gets frustrating to wait that long :( Can you guys recommend anything that might work better, or do you think a salicylic acid peel at 20% strength might work? Thanks!!!
