Difference between salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide?

I'm wondering what to use now that I'm older and out of puberty.

I don't have huge breakouts, just a few pimples here and there.

I was told BPO was more for full blown acne while salicylic acid is more for basic pimples resulting from clogged pores like from sweating or makeup. BPO is general just for acne bacteria for people who have it bad.

So what should I use? I've been BPO for almost my whole life with acne I never really tried salicylic acid products.

Benzoyl peroxide is effective against inflammatory acne ... it kills the bacteria that cause the infection.

Salicylic acid exfoliates within the pores and helps to prevent blockages. If you have a lot of clogged pores on your face, this could be the best way to go.

Ive used BP and SA. For me the SA works better cause I would normally get ingrown hairs and blocked pours from that. I wonder if BP would work better on the forehead area, and SA on the are below the forehead?
