Hi,

Okay, so I am a 26 year old female who has started suffering from moderate/severe acne in the past 4 years. I have been on 250mg minocycline, doxy, retin-a, differin, sulfa drugs, bcps, diane-35, duac and before we started to consider Accutane, the doc prescribed 500mg Amoxicillin and 75mg Aldactone (spironlactone) which in 3 weeks has CLEARED UP MY ACNE!!!!!!!!!! However, I am a habitual picker, and I have these nice red bumps to show for it, but not a single new mark in 2 weeks which is amazing considering I would get one to three every 2 days. I have tried Obagi, hydroquinone, mederma, retin-a, Tanda Light, Fincea (azaleic) to clear up red marks, all with little success (actuall Obagi worked miracles for my red marks/hyperpigmentation after the worst 4 weeks of my life, but then I got a horrible hormonal breakout which it wouldn't help with).

Anyway...I bought the 1.5mm dermaroller to help clear these up but want to make sure that I don't have "active acne" before proceeding. Okay, so I had nodules (hard red bumps) which I would squeeze anyways, and would get stuff out after about 3 days of picking and poking (BAD! I know I know! I have the damage to show for my mistakes). I still have red marks where these were and they are still hard (only 2 are slightly raised), but I can't tell for sure the difference between macules and a lingering bump. Also, I had 3 cystic marks and they are now still raised and hard, but whiter. All these are from the past month or so. I have no blackheads or whiteheads, but never did. I only would get cysts or large hard nodules under the skin. Any thoughts would be great!!

It's pretty hard to tell by the picture, I guess if you ran your fingers over your skin and it felt smooth, there is no active acne?
