Is this PF, please I need help?

Recommended Posts

I know it's not the best picture but if you take your time and look closely you can see lots of flesh-coloured little bumps. I have had these for as long as I can remember now and they are predominently on my forehead and I have a few on my temples and cheeks. They are mainly flesh coloured, sometimes they look a bit red and they barley itch.

I have also tried countless acne medications which have not removed them.

I do a lot of exercise and sweat a lot and have slightly oily skin and have been reading the post Whitefox done on PF and apperently this is the kind of environment PF thrives on, I have reserached a lot about it and do think I have it but I just want your opinions.

Your comment's would be greatly appreciated, thankyou.

Karl.

If this is PF, the bumps are likely to feel hard and prickly to the touch. When inflamed, they come to a head with a tiny amount of clear or white fluid. There is no solid core that can be extracted. Treatments: anti-fungals of all kinds.

If these are closed comedones, they'll feel bumpy and pebbly but not prickly. If they become inflamed, they'll turn into pustules. They are caused by a comedone -- a solid plug of dead skin cells and dried sebum under the skin, blocking the pore. Comedones can be extracted (best left to an expert). Treatments: topical retinoids, salicylic acid, even low-dose Accutane in some cases.

Thanks for the reply, well they deffinatley feel bumpy, but i'm not sure if they feel prickly or pebbly because I don't really know what you mean by that, I just had a scrape at them though to pick them off and there was white stuff and some started bleeding.

That's a good description lionqueen- but when I had PF I had tons of comedones, both closed and open. PF seems to come in different forms.

but maybe you had both PF and comedonal acne?

I also get flaky skin around my eyebrows and occasional small red patches on my cheeks ... not sure if this is part of PF or if seborrheic dermatitis has also entered the scene.

gah.
