Should I up my dose?

Recommended Posts

Here's my situation. About 2 months ago, my doctor prescribed 100 mg minocycline once a day and it worked like a charm. Like an idiot, I let the prescription run out after the 50 doses and wasn't able to take them for a few days. I started breaking out again almost immediately and it didn't improve once I was back on the minocycline.

My question is, can I up the dose to twice a day without seeing my doctor or should I really wait to see what he says. The problem is, I can't get an appointment until the end of this month and my face is getting really bad.

Self-medicating is dangerous stuff. Just take the pills as prescribed until you can talk to your doctor.

Even with minocycline? I thought 200 mg was a normal dose for a lot of people?

If your doctor prescribed that you take a certain dose, follow those instructions until you can consult with them on possibly upping the dosage.
