Disinfection Kit for Rolling (photo)

post-98843-1238273060_thumb.jpgpost-98843-1238273060_thumb.jpg

Got a disinfection kit for a 1mm roller I purchased and thought I'd

share the info:

Kit consists of:

1. bottle of isopropyl alcohol (99%) and water (I assume 1%--doesn't say)

2. a very flexible brush

3. a small plastic container with a 1/4 "sponge" at the bottom

Directions:

1. using brush, remove any residue on Roller's in tepid luke warm water

2. Apply sterilization solution to sterilization chamber sponge. Wet

sponge thoroughly

3. Roll roller repeatedly on sterilization sponge. Wet entire circumference

of roller. If needed, wash roller with a brush in tepid luke warm water.

4. Allow roller to dry completely.

(note: the bottle says 99% isopropyl alcohol but on the outside of the box

it says "isopropyl alcohol 70%, water")

its a really sophisticated set-up, I know. I actually have a concern that the

"sponge" might breed bacteria???? Anyway, for what its worth.

EUREKA

- Cleaning the Microneedle Roller

If Using Sterilization Kit- Open the cleaning tray and place the white cleaning pad in the larger half of the tray. Fill the cleaning tray with sterilization solution and roll the roller into the pad with medium pressure. Leave the Roller in the cleaning solution for about 15 to 30 minutes – ensure that the roller drum is constantly wet with the cleaning solution. After cleaning, rinse with tap water and return the roller to the protective case and allow it to air dry. Replace the case lid until the next use.

Alternative Method- You may use denture tablets (in water) to clean the Microneedle Roller. Denture tables are enzyme cleansers and enzymes take off fat as well as reduce bacteria. While not as effective, you may also use alcohol (isopropyl).

Overnight soaking can kill 99.9 percent of denture germs - Pharmacy shelves are lined with denture cleaning options, from all-natural soaking solutions to high-end ultrasonic devices. It's easy for denture wearers to think one cleaning option is as effective as the next, and therefore choose the fastest or least expensive one. But fast may not be best. By encouraging the use of an overnight soak such as Polident® (GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare), dental hygienists can empower patients to kill up to 99.9 percent of the bacteria that colonizes on their prostheses. This level of disinfection may not be reached with many quick-fix cleaning methods. Other good products on the market include Dentist On Call Denture Wipes (Majestic Drugs Company) or ProClean™.
