IPL bruising - purple

Recommended Posts

I had IPL on Monday- got home and I have HUGE purple tiger stripes on both cheeks. I had to cancel meetings with customers - and work from home - because they are SO ridiculously dark that I couldnt cover with makeup (even dermablend, which is made for this).

I can barely look in the mirror and I wish that I had NEVER done this.

I had 2 IPL treatments previously and had NOTHING like this - and have not changed anything in terms of medications, etc.

I have read posts that say aspirin will help and others that say aspirin will make it worse.

I am seeing the dermatologist today - I had this done at a "Medical Spa" and NOT at the doctors office, which was a mistake.

I would advise anyone to (1) re-consider IPL, (2) only do it under the care of a licensed physician, and (3) give yourself a week cushion time to recover at least in case you get bruising like this.

I wish I hadn't done it.

If there are any doctors out there, I would love to know how long this will last.

HELP!!!

I saw some people on realself.com had the same strip marks. They said the setting on the IPL was too high or something. But you said you had 2 IPL session prior to this one and the setting were the same, so it might possibly the person who performed the treatment was inexperienced. I am actually going to a doctor who specializes in laser treatments to have my marks evaluated before consider what kind of laser to get. I hope you recover well.

You should be mostly healed within 2 weeks, should become much less visible after about 7 days.

Everyone is different, but i have had the bruising before and it took a bit longer to clear on me. It DID eventually heal though.

Get some aloe vera gel 99 aloe is good.

Thanks.

I did go to the dermatologist yesterday. She suggested Vitamin K cream (helps bruising heal more quickly), arnica pills (a natural supplement you can get in the vitamin store), and Dermablend makeup.

I am hopeful that within the next few days, it will be much less obvious so that I can cover it.
