ClaraLoassa 0 Share Posted January 27, 2009 Just something I'm wondering.I was using a Salicylic Acid acne wash for a few days and it made my skin go crazy. It got very oily somehow and broke out in a million places. It took about 2-3 weeks before my face went back to normal (which is still acne, haha).I was then prescribed Differin by a Dermatologist, who told me that Differin would initially "purge" my skin, bring all the impurities to the surface at first, etc. Sure enough, applied Differin and 2 days later - bam! big breakout. So now I'm wondering, how do you know if a product is purging your skin and making it better, or if a product is just reacting badly with your skin and making it worse? The reaction looks the same to me. I stopped using the SA wash because of the way my face got, but Differin is doing the same thing - although apparently it's expected to.I don't know what to think! DefeatingAcne 0 Share Posted January 27, 2009 The only difference between the purging and a random breakout is that you expected the 'purge', so you will have to just take a risk if you want to know if it works for you. You do not seem to try these products for very long; many take over a month to see 'acceptable' results but it varies for everyone.
