ACNE - STRESS CORRELATION?

Recommended Posts

I'm a male in my mid 50s that hasn't had acne since I was a teenager. I have recently been stricken with massive outbreaks of acne in the past 3 to 4 months. I have also been under alot of stress during that time period....death of pets.....gambling losses....unemployment. I am very overweight but have been so for many years, so don't think that is related. What is the correlation betweeen acne and stress?

I'd be interested to hear some on this too. I'm going through a divorce, and my stress level is through the roof. My acne has been some what consistent though. May be a little worse.

There can be a correlation between acne and stress. For you to suddenly have massive outbreaks of acne in middle age, I'd be concerned about other medical issues. If you can find a local low-cost clinic for a physical examination, laboratory values, and physician or PA or NP assessment, I'd strongly recommend that route. It is usually a sign of other medical problems including diabetes or other endocrine-related disorders when acne strikes suddenly in a middle-aged person.

I would say that stress depletes your vitamin reserves and therefore you don't have enough and break out. Take a look at vitamin b6
