RED MARKS ABSOLUTELY RUINING MY LIFE PLEASE READ PLEASE HELP

Recommended Posts

Red marks are ruining my life. Waking up wayy earlier than I should because I have to apply makeup and set my hair just right. Staying on on weekends because I didn't put makeup on that day. Refusing sleepovers because my makeup might wear off. This needs to stop. It's eating me alive. I've completely collapsed in hysterics more than once now. HELP ME.

I see someone's clear skin and think "mine's like that, but I have dots all over." I hate that the acne's gone but my skin is ugly. I need help: NOW.

What works. Some of my red marks are intended, so scars maybe? I'm 14. I don't have time to wait four or five years and go through high school ^^^ that way.I will go to a laser specialist (namee...? I forget.) a derm (mine said he didn't specialize in any scarring...) buy anything use anything...help.

I've already used asprin, honey, yogurt, ACV, cucumber, baking soda, a peel (not specifically for marks, but all I could find in Target that day), bp, sa, and now I'm using Differin and Klaron that helps any lingering acne, but doesn't seem to helping red marks (Differin-0.3 on red marks).

Help. I NEED HELP. What works? If it only works for some people, it can't be too much money, seeing as I don't plan on spending $3000 on something that might not work. But if it could help, say it. I want to know.

Now. Please :)

Two weeks? Gosh, I'd wait up to 5 months. [i just hate when people say "it will fade in a couple of years". YEARS?!?! I'm not being known as high school girl with that ugly hair to cover her acne marks.] But thanks, at home I have this Banana Boat kind...but maybe something more natural definitely would be better...I'll buy it and add it to my list of stuff I've used. It is aloe vera gel or is it like mushy leaves or something?? haaha

Kaiwaii, I hate to say this but the only thing that works for most people is time. If you truly have no active pimples and just red marks, then the only thing you can do safely is be super gentle to your skin, and wait.

Also, a dose of self esteem would help, because no one, no matter how bad there skin, should feel the way you do. NEVER limit yourself just because you think people will think you are ugly. You are as beautiful as you act. I'm a guy, and the girl I'm most attracted to right now has acne, but she doesn't let it bother her, so when I talk to her I never see her acne.

Honestly, the moment you start being outgoing is the moment people will begin to like you, no matter how many pimples you have. One of the most outgoing and lovable people in my school has moderate/severe acne.

Don't rely on makeup and hair to cover such silly things, let your PERSONALITY take care of your appearence!

Awww thank you...but honestly, I do believe I am too self-concious to wear no makeup...but yes, I will try to be more outgoing, and I go through phases of manic-depression (ahaha...over-exaggerating...) with my acne and, while trying to find a cure, I will hold my head up higher and higher until it doesn't matter anymore.

But...anyone else have any "cures"?

Okay, first off , i know EXACTLY what your going through ! I'm almost 14 and at school i always cover my face , im distant from everyone , etc . But recentley, i've tried rubbing ice on my scars and it's worked REALLY well ! just take an ice cube and rub it on your face for 5-10 minutes . It will be red while your face is wet, but it will gradually dry off and you'll notice your scars are fading ! I've tried this for a week now and i almost have clear skin now ! ;) I just have a little bit left but not alot . Trust me , i know what acne does to you . I didnt go to sleepovers and stuff too because of it . I've used differin and its not very good for red marks. Right now, im using retin-a micro 0.1% and its a REALLY strong medication , so i only put it on after three days or so . I've found that home remedies are much more helpful than medications . Just dont let your acne bother you , i know its hard , but trust me , as soon as you see yourself without acne , you'll feel like a stronger person. Consider acne as a test to see how strong you are in the end. cheesy, i know haha , but thats how i think of it . And remember , you wont have it FOREVER ! it will most likely heal very soon. If anyone says anything about your acne at school , dont even listen to them. When my acne was severe, people would be like " do you have a sunburn or something? " and all i'd do was get depressed. But now that i think about it , those kind of comments are what has made me stronger in the end . Always tell yourself this : if i can go through having acne, i can do ANYTHING .

always helps me , and STAY STRONG . trust me , half the people probably dont even NOTICE your acne ! at school, i used to always ask my friends "is my face red?" and they'll be like "red?what? no...." its just how we see ourselves that puts us down . Trust me , even when i had severe acne , i found out that these three guys liked me . HAHA , i was SO surprised ! its mostly because i didnt let it bother me that much . I did for awhile , but not after . Be strong, and remember, your not alone . ;)

ok, i'm not 14, i'm 22 yrs old and feel exactly as u do.

i will NEVER leave w/out make up, i have to wake up at 6am to get ready for work when i don't have to be in till 8:30. i have to pound on make up to try and hide my red marks as well as exsiting acne. it sucks, bad. i know how u feel. i stay home every weekend so i can let my face breathe and get a 2 day break from the loads of make up i have to put on monday-friday to go to work.

i can't imagine being 14 dealing w/this, cause like u said, sleepovers etc. as far as cures? i have yet to find one.

i did accutane for 3 months, and that's what gave me all my scars and red marks. as of now, i'm back to doxycycline, proactiv, and supplements. (zinc, vit c, acidophulus)

if u go to my posts, u can see my face, it could be worse than yours. if i ever find something to help i will let you know, or i would love to know what i should be doing to help w/my face!

U only 14 that mean your skin will heal faster then 21-30 year old. If u eat healthy maybe it can heal 1-2 month and exercise and sleep. I think the reason your red mark other people red mark are longer fade because they won't exercise and geting to much stress over they life.

go for superficial/medium peels.

like 20% TCA combined with another superficial!

talk to a derm.

for red marks, lasers are such a EXPENSIVE way..

peels do the job!

Hey I'm 15 I know exactlyy how you feel. I honestly just try to push myself to be outgoing, and not focus on skin. Last year I was really down about it and brought people down with me (in a way) I would always say comments and stuff like that.

Well anyways I use an eggwhite and lemon mask and surprisingly that helped me a lot. I also use ACV as a toner but that hasn't helped with redmarks as much as the eggwhite and lemon juice mask has. I did it every day for a week and it helped reduce the size and redness. Its obviously too soon to have my redmarks be completely gone but hopefully in a month or two I won't have to worry about my redmarks.

I also tried yogurt, aspirin, honey, all that. I still do masks because I like the way it makes my skin look and feel afterwards.

Good luck!!!!

yeah, straight on looking in the mirror it just looks like i just have red marks, but like in the car when the sunroof is open and i look in the mirror it looks like they are indented, but when i touch my red marks it just feels smooth. so i don't know if it's just a trick of the light or if i really have indentions.

i'm in the same boat. i was on the DKR and it totally ruined my skin, leaving me with tons of red marks all over my cheeks. i have tried everything, and i have to agree with whoever said it, but the only thing that's helped is time and a good concealer! haha. i stopped the DKR four months ago and cleared up (for the most part) on a different regimen, but the red marks are still around but are getting lighter. i'm sure using like ACV and aspirin masks, stuff like that, help towards lightening scars, but it works so slowly you don't really realize it.

Hey thanks to everyone, I tried ice (hm...posted on this thread? I'm too lazy to check) and it...didn't work. I am going to try a lemon. With the egg white/lemon, do you combine them both together? I might try that after I try a lemon. ANd thanks soo much to everyone =]] except the post jacker.

That was pretty rude.

Hey so I also sometimes ice my skin and a moderator (i forget who) was saying how you should cover the ice with a paper towel or have some sort of barrier between the ice and your skin.

but yeah with the egg white and lemon I add the egg white into a bowl and I have lemon juice in the little bottle so I just add a small squirt of that (less than a teaspoon). Then I whip it up with a fork so it gets very frothy/bubbly. I apply it with a cottonball and I leave it on for 20-30 minutes but sometimes longer. I kind of get sidetracked with timing but I don't suggest that heheh. -Also your skin should feel very tight during and afterwards. If your skin is dry I would avoid putting it on those areas because it tends to make it slightly worse, for me at least.

I don´t know how bad your red marks are. In my experience, the ones that were caused by a whitehead or small pimple will fade pretty my on their own, or with the help of home remedies or over the counter products (I have found the Rx for brown skin line, developed by a dermatologist, to work quite well. They also have glycolic acid, lactic acid and other ingredients in it, in a low dose of course).

But the marks that were caused by a deeper cystic acne pimple, those will take forever to fade on their own, or they might not fade at all. I completely agree with the other post about TCA peel, you can order one online (start with a lower % and work your way up). It will require doing more than one peel, but the effect is more significant than with those home remidies because a chemical peel goes deeper into the skin, which is definitely necessary for the stubborn red marks.

alright. I'm gunna try the lemon juice straight up first, then add egg white if it doesn't work. My area that is plagued by red marks is very oily. I won't buy anything online, but I'll talk to a derm or someone to get a peel if that doesn't work. I don't remember what caused them, it seems like such a long time ago...I think it was both...anyway w00t 2 pages!! and i really have to start getting active toward finding something...

and organizing my sentences...

Get a product with lactic acid( PCA is a great one!!!) its great for lighteming pigmentation. I'm an esthetician. An inexpensive way rather that doing laser therapy and peels is buying from a doctors office or esthetician. The strength in them is stronger than the over the counter. I don't suggest doing peels. Especially cause you live in Hawaii..... i think. I live in Oahu and doing a peel will do far more damage being always exposed to sun.....TRUST ME!!! Try Murad skin lightening with vitamin-c amazing also theres Dermapro Lightening treatment. It comes with a cleanser toner and moisturizer. At my spa we use those and are clients are very pleased with it!! I know you can get murad trial size at sephora. Alot of those two if you go to there website it will tell you who sells those products where you live!!! Good luck!!! I have bad pigmentation as well and those worked great for me.

Hi, I found a product that contains lactic acid but the only thing that bothers me is it is a feminine wash! Will it do?
