I am on day 10. I had the same thing happen last week on day 4 and went to the dr. and they said sometimes accutane makes the acne worsen at first for awhile before it gets better. and so in result of it worsening, the acne irritated my lymph node. My derm had already givin me a antibiotic to take with the accutane so the dr. just sent me home and said to keep taking my a.b. and to put warm compresses on my swollen gland to 10 mins. 3x a day. He said if it doesn't go away within 2 weeks to come back in. And as of today, it isn't swollen anymore.

The same reason anyone takes any prescription drug. The risk is worth the chance of control/a cure of the illness. Those severe side effects are extremely rare. Even aspirin can cause gastrointestinal bleeding and even Reye's Syndrome.

For many people this is the only chance of a cure for severe, cystic, BADLY scarring acne. If you just get a little red spot on your face when you start your period and freak out then obviously you have no clue why someone would take Accutane rather than become disfigured from acne.

look at their list and how they rate it, they also list muscle pain as severe. but also list kidney failure and stroke as severe. so i dont know how serious to take this...
