How long should i wait to use 10% glycolic acid after Accutane?

Recommended Posts

Just wanted to kind of ask this question again, i have been off of accutane for over a month and i was just wondering if it would be safe to use Dan's AHA+ considering its only 10% glycolic acid..

Is it safe? Or will it cause scarring?

Thanks to anyone who replies.

i think that totally depends on how 'tough' ur skin is.

i use nixoderm on my face every 3rd or 4th day and nixoderm is

like a 10% glycolic peel (i dunno, maybe even more intense), but

my face is fine doing that. if your skin has a track record of being

durable and being able to withstand a lot of acid, then you'll probably

be fine. you could always just leave it on for 10 minutes and then

see how you feel. your face will burn a little bit, but peels always

burn so just watch out for anything too out of the ordinary.

also, watch out for your skin getting too dry. i'm only on a 20mg pill of

accutane a day, so to begin with, my skin is not as affected as someone

taking more (i'm 130 lbs). if your skin is pretty dry, i'd say stay away

from the peel, cuz you might be damaging ur skin too much and that's

counterproductive for your face getting better.

hope that helped!

Thank you thank you thank you Grayla2

I decided to try it last night, i guess when i woke up i thought my face looked just as dry as it did when i went to bed, but when i saw some of my friends to do some x mas shopping, they were like "your face ...its like glowing"

didn't really know what to say though...considering im a guy. I wasn't going to be like "oh well im using this great new product blah blah blah"

(my friends all have perfect skin)

so i just said "sweet :) thanks"

I have decided to use it every 3 or 4 days, just to be safe for now.

Another question..Do you think 10% glycolic acid could make existing scars worse?? or better??

I hope your "adventure" on accutane goes well. The hardest part for me was ending it.

Drink lots of water, have some chap stick 24/7 and you should do great.

Once again, thanks for the advice i really needed it.
