Fraxel in Australia

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

I've finally bit the bullet and decided I would like to try fraxel to help my disfigured skin. I have severe acne scarring on my chin and around my mouth, and I have come to the conclusion that I am never going to be able to lead a normal life while feeling so disfigured. Apart from the scarring on the lower part of my face, I have ENORMOUS pores on my nose and forehead, and would maybe be looking at treatment on my whole face to help minimise the appearance of these.

I was wondering if there are any aussies out there who could share their fraxel experiences with me? I'm located in Canberra, so would be looking at getting the treatment done in Sydney (haven't been able to locate any in Canberra via my internet searches). I would love to know any names of good practitioners, and importantly, the costs involved, as I'm struggling to find this information on the internet!

Any help and information would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers.

Hey there,

I had my first full face Fraxel done on Monday here in Sydney. You can find the names & locations of practitioners through the official Fraxel website which is where I first started looking. I went for a Dr that has a good reputation & has performed many Fraxel treatments, it was expensive $1500 but you can pay for a package of 5 upfront & works out cheaper (I think $5500 altogether but will have to double check). He also uses the newer model which apparently goes deeper & doesn't need the blue dye.

I personally suffered from cystic acne as a teen & was on Roaccutane on & off for about 4 years. I was left with severely damaged acne scarring & tried chemical peels (TCA), herbal green peels & I had the CO2 laser resurfacing about 8 years ago. I feel like all the procedures contributed in making a slightly better improvement but not much difference. I am hoping the Fraxel will be the answer!

Hi, I have had one session of fraxel re:store done it melbourne, have not yet had a huge difference, you apparently need several sessions to see some results. I have pretty mild scarring, but in obvious places - nose, apples of cheeks and between eyes. I have noticed some very slight improvement thus far, my skin tone is looking better. But saying that, I'm definitely going back for the second session.

For something a little stronger the Fraxel re:pair might be a good option. They combine it with a co2 laser, i think, and you usually only need one session but the downtime is much longer. I think there is a place in sydney that does the re:pair, but many places do the re:store.

Good luck, congrats for choosing to do something, god knows it took me long enough :)

Hi,

I just finished my 4th Fraxel treatment with Dr Chris Kearney in Bondi Junction

(Sydney Specialist Dermatology),still have one session to go.

I have severe acne scarring on the temple and cheek from teenage years.

I am beginning to see some good improvement after the 3rd treatment , can't tell the result

of my 4th as it was done 2 days ago and I am still recovering.

You can get Medicare rebate about 70% off the total 5 x treatments that cost about $5000+ (full face),but you have to get a reference from your GP before you see the dermatologist in order to be qualified for the Medicare rebate.

SydneyMum, Kabuki, and ats, thank you for your help! :D

Through browsing some websites, it appears that fraxel repair is offered by Dr Ting in Sydney, I would be very, very interested in trying this, as the less treatments the better. I assume it would be more expensive than fraxel restore though.

Thanks, ats, for the heads up on the Medicate rebate as well!

I just recently met with a fairly prominent derm in sydney Bryan Pang who offers profractional laser. Is this different to restore etc, given that I have mild scarring he said that after three treatments I can expect anywhere between 50 - 80% improvement but more likely 50. It is 3800 for the three treatments which I found expensive, and he also said there is no medicare rebate on it?

Hello

I wondered how you went with your fraxel treatments with Dr Chris Kearney. Were you satisfied and were they succesful? I am booked in to have my 1st treatment with him in a few weeks. Did you have any short or long term adverse side effects?

Want good skin too.

heya, i went looking into fraxel in sydney a few months back. I havent been to Dr Kearney, though went to Dr Ting (who is mentioned above). I saw his before and after photos (after 4+ sessions) and the peoples skin looked pretty much the same, if not worse. He kept passing them off as improvements, though everyone looked better before their treatment. I went to a few other places too, one in Neutral Bay and one in Elizabeth Street and their pictures all looked pretty much the same too. People on here claim they havent seen any results.

im looking into excision instead or possibly needling (a lot cheaper and more results as far as i hear). theres a place in darlinghurst called peach cosmetic medicine which offers a range of treatments and looks pretty good. im planning on booking a consultation and once i have enough money will definitely undertake a few treatments there.

what kind of scarring do you have?
