Bkatlynn26 0 Share Posted October 30, 2008 Hello everyone, I am currently haveing breakouts, ever since I quit using Retin A back in June which I used for 6 mths and wonderful results! Anyway, like a fool I quit because it was summer time and now I am regretting it. I just now got back from my dermatologist and I was a little dissapointed in that he is putting me on Differn and not Retin A. I know I'm having problems with dry skin right now and I figured that was why he decided to go that route, however, doesn't Differin have similar side effects? I am so confused and nervous on trying something new when the Retin A worked for me so well before, but do I dare go against doctors oders? Does Differin improve skin like Retin A? Any advice? Thank you.Allison
German Gary 0 Share Posted November 4, 2008 Differin is adapalene, and I think Retin-A is tretinoin. You could google both of those names if you wanted. Both have similar side effects, but I believe that Retin-A is the stronger, but less gentle, retinoid. Being on Differin shouldn't be too much different, and hopefully your side effects will be reduced.
