First post here and I will try not to make this too long and I will provide

cliffs. Hopefully I posted this in the right spot as well.

I am currently 24 and live in Australia and have suffered mild acne

(mostly on my chin) for as long as I can remember. Last year I actually

got rid of by using AcneFree (2.5% benzoyl peroxide) which I ended up

becoming allergic to. I have since also tried another BP product, only

to get the similar rash on face and neck. I was completely acne free

when on this product so it was so annoying that I managed to become

allergic to it.

At the moment I am treating my acne with St Ives apricot scrub (with

salicylic acid), eryance (a topical antibiotic) during and after my

morning shower, and then using another salicylic wash at night. At the

moment they are keeping the acne at bay, with some small breakouts, but

I am worried about the eryance. Because it is an antibiotic and I have

already been using it for over two months, I have already noticed that

it is starting to be less effective. So basically, what I am asking you

guys, is what can I use in place of BP that works well.

Thanks.

Cliffs:

· Used BP product that cleared up acne.

· became allergic to BP product and can't use anymore

· what can I use instead of BP? (Already use salicylic acid products)

You might try Finacea. I believe you don't need a prescription for it in Australia either. Finacea is antibacterial, so it may be a good replacement for BP. Finacea also helps unclog pores, reduces inflamation and helps fade red marks. The active ingredient is azelaic acid.

Bump, anyone?

You could try tea tree oil. Seeing a dermatologist wouldn't be a bad move either.

Thanks for the idea, I was actually of trying this. I was thinking about seeing a dermatologist, though it would be a 3+ month wait for me and quite expensive so I am hoping it doesnt come to that.

Sounds like a good treatment. I will go check out the local pharmacists and see if they the product. Thanks for the advice.

Quick question concerning tea tree oil. How would one apply it and how frequently? I was thinking with a cotton pad and only once a day, probably at night. This sound ok?

I only know a little about the tea tree oil, but I did not want you to get over-zealous and go ahead and apply it without receiving any replies.

Do NOT apply it neat, it is way to strong to apply all by itself. It will burn your skin.

Wait until you get a reply about the tea tree oil here about what people mix it with or do a search on how people use it :)

hi

I was wondering if you found anything that worked as im excatly like you!! i get spots just on chin and around my mouth.

i live in the UK but was living in Australia and tried the Procativ range which worked perfectly and i was spot free for first time but then i started to get a allegic reaction and my lips and eyelids swelled up and i had a red rash that was itchy and crusty and generally didnt look nice! i found a lovely skin specialist in Sydney who gave me these pills that took away those side effects and let me carry on using Proactiv. unfortuantly i then moved home to the UK where the doctors werent as nice as told me i had to stop using Proactiv!! i cant found anything that works as well. nothing else is strong enough! even tablets and lotions from the doctor and laser treatment havent helped!

i have an appointment with a skin specialist next month and im hoping they can give me something that works and keeps them away!

so if u found anything let me know!

i have just started using tea tree oil. did it work for you?

thanks
