Rob2686 34 Posted October 2, 2008 i have read some reveiews saying it does. i take a 50mg zinc in the morning and evening. does it cause hair loss. it would suck if it didnt cause my hair is me Zinc can create an iron deficiency (zinc can block iron absorption). A symptom of an iron deficiency can be weak or brittle hair.
KenScofield 0 Posted October 2, 2008 Yes, it does. I accidentally saw the word "Zinc" on a periodic table and before I could do anything I instantly became bald.

A symptom of an iron deficiency can be weak or brittle hair. my hair is allot more weak now adays 50mg twice a day is too much. 50mg can even be too much, especially if you take a daily vitamin, most have 15mg's of zinc in them. (I take 50mg a day and don't notice any brittle hair though) The recommended amount is 11mg a day for a 19+ male. Just curious though, do you ever get a metallic taste? I've heard zinc over dose gives a metallic taste in your mouth.

beck444 0 Posted October 2, 2008 My hair seems to be thinning out and falling out a little when I shower...I thought it was just a phase but I'm thinking maybe it's this. Can this be countered by taking more iron or is iron completely blocked out by too much Zinc? I've been taking 40mg a day for months now..I also drink Rooibos Tea daily which contains a bunch of Zinc too, not sure how many mg per cup. There's a good chance I've been taking too much per day though.. The symptoms only started the past few weeks so maybe it finally caught up and I'm lacking iron now. =\ Gonna start by lowering my daily dose by a lot and maybe finding some foods with iron.
