How did you meet your love of your life?

Recommended Posts

I just like hearing stories about how people meet  and that it's not impossible for people fighting acne to fall in love/be loved at the same time.

Believe it or not, I actually met my boyfriend from this site. :) Met him on here about 2 years ago, in September '06. We didn't really start talking one-on-one though until January '07 though. Hit it off immediately. After 14 months of talking and wanting each other we finally decided to make it official and met in RL.

:D ^

 Similar story to LaFawnduh's! Met my girlfriend on this site however we lived continents apart. We talked, every single day, for HOURS on end via phone, webcam, skype, etc. for approximately 8 months till she came to New Zealand to visit me and we lived together for a few months. She is the one for me, and truly is the love of my life. I love her so much and to me she is the most beautiful, most wonderful, most amazing, brilliant being in the universe. She is a genius, she is just perfect. I just bought a plane ticket to go stay with her for a few months in November! :D.

We plan on banishing the continental divide and live together permanently as soon as I graduate Law School!

*story over* hehe

Aww! I like love stories, too.

I met my guy at the bar. Yep! In a bar!! Imagine that. Actually, he owns the bar so I did small-talk with him a little when I first met him, but I was married at the time so hooking up with him never crossed my mind. Years later, I separated from my (now) ex husband and started meeting some friends on Fridays for after work happy hour. My guy and I chit chatted and flirted a little, but it was a slow process. He was cautious of me since he'd been burned hard before and because he owns a business (thinking I was a gold digger perhaps?). I was cautious of him because I'd been out of the dating scene for a very long time, and figured he'd be a player since his livelihood revolves around people getting sloshed and sleeping around; I figured I'd just be a booty call.

As time went on and he realized I was seriously getting divorced, not just toying with the idea or prowling around, he ramped up the flirting. We started spending time together outside of the bar. The next thing we knew we had fallen head over heels for each other. I'm totally hooked on the man. I find him to be the most real person I've ever met. He fascinates me and keeps me on my toes. What he sees in me, I have no idea really, but we get along like peas and carrots somehow. :)

eta: I was overweight and had acne when we got together. It was very flattering that a wonderful person found me attractive despite me hating my appearance. It can and does happen! :)

my boyfriend and i have known eachother for years. we were friends for a long time. when we first met, we were both in relationships, but secretly loved eachother. we went our seperate ways for a couple years...i went to college, he stayed around working different jobs and having meaningless relationships. then i came home for thanksgiving last year and we hung out. this is the first time we had both been single and completely alone together...it didnt take us long to start making out on my couch! hahahaha.

we've been hopelessly in love ever since.

when we started dating, i didnt have acne. and now that i do, he's been so sweet about helping me through it. it bothers me sometimes, and i get really uncomfortable, but i know he really loves me for who i am.

and once i get on accutane in.....21 days!!!!! .....this will all be a thing of the past.

The first time I saw my boyfriend, Marty, he was standing on a tree stump in my front yard, talking to my brother. I was fourteen at the time, but I remember thinking, "That's him. He's the one.".

Jump forward two years... I'd been dating a guy at my high school for nine months. I saw Marty on occasion, when he'd stop by the house to see my brother (by that time, they were pretty much best friends), but I'd always been too wrapped up in my high school romance to really pay him any mind. At the end of the school year, my then-boyfriend cut things off with me so he'd be available to meet girls when his family went to Florida for the summer. So, broken hearted, I wandered through his neighborhood for a while, until I realized that Marty lived right up the street.

I was nervous about it, but I rang Marty's doorbell, and when he came out, I told him all about how I'd been dumped and how sad I was. He humored me and we talked and hung out for the rest of the day. I'm sure he was only doing it out of pity, but I thought it was really sweet, and the crush I'd developed on him at fourteen returned with a vengeance.

After that, I'd stop by his house almost every day. I'd ride my bike to the computer repair shop that he worked at and pester him to take breaks so we could sit in the parking lot and talk. I'd write him notes and call him. Basically, I was a good-natured stalker. And he was always friendly about it, so, eventually, I started hinting that I liked him and would like to go out.

Unfortunately, when I was sixteen, he was twenty one, so it was definitely illegal. And besides that, he and my brother were best friends. So there was no way anything was going to happen. Every time I'd bring it up, he'd point out that The Code Of Men states that you can't date your friend's sister. It's just not done. I was disappointed, but dealt with it.

Eventually, I started dating other guys. A few of them, I was really into, and eventually, at nineteen, I moved from Illinois to Connecticut to marry one of them. It was an interesting time, and I cared a lot about the guy, but after two years of marriage, we realized it wasn't working, so I moved back home.

I think it was the night after I got back when I saw Marty again. It was Thanksgiving, and he'd stopped by to watch movies with my brother and my brother's girlfriend. I'm pretty sure I said hi to them, but I was so busy crying on the phone to my then-soon-to-be-ex-husband that, again, I didn't pay him much mind.

Over the months, though, Marty and I started seeing more and more of each other. We'd hang out and watch movies with my brother. He took me to see King Kong and to the aquarium. By that time, I think we were both feeling something pretty strong, but there was still the issue of him being my brother's best friend (although the age thing wasn't so much of an issue, since by then I was twenty one and he was twenty six).

After four months of beating around the bush, we finally gave in and made it official. Now we've been together for two and a half years, and have lived together for two of those years. And I still catch myself looking at him and thinking, "That's him. He's the one.".

Whew. That was, like, the longest story ever... : P

Aww, I was sure you were going to say, "I looked in the mirror.".

P.S. Nose job + Age = Jennifer Grey's not so cute any more.

I know :(

IMO, she had the prettiest natural face in human history. A close second is Elisha Cuthbert. Basing it on unique beauty she has. Obviously there are supermodels with fake chest and makeup all over the place, but they are so easy to find. Jennifer Grey = #1!!! The way she smiles makes me happy.

She was really cute in the 80's, I'll give you that. I like her way more with her original nose. And yeah, she does have a cute little smile. : )

meeting my love is not as exciting as how we started dating. he came to my birthday party, we both proceeded to get heavily intoxicated and make out like mad. needless to say, at first, things were a little awkward, at least for me, but he's the most amazing man i've ever met, and i want him for the rest of my life.

Yeah I remember her in Ferris Buellers Day Off. She was hot in that movie and she didn't wear sexy clothes. She is a natural. :D

I have had a couple "loves" of my life. The first one was at 19, on a group trip to San Diego. He was quite a bit older than me, everybody was abuzz about him, and for some reason he took a fancy to ME. The relationship was only a summertime thing, but he was the first guy that I actually LIKED. Was never very serious, because like I said, he was a good deal older than me, but it took me a LONG time to get over him, and we actually did get together again, briefly, about five years later. Gave me a chance to work out some of my feeling for him and get over him! ALthough I bump into him every couple of years and there is still a little tug on my heartstrings.

Second guy was someone I was in school with. Had THE sweetest buildup/romance EVER, but came crashing down because I was actually dating someone at the time and didn't know how to proceed. Pretty much, I screwed it up. Had a few very sweet and meaningful kisses, but never amounted to much. Funny I should consider him one of the loves of my life. I think that what it comes down to is that he was one of my favorite people in the world and it was really painful to lose his friendship (things got ugly for awhile). Funny thing is that we're still in touch 15 years later, I still see him on a semi regular basis, he is still one of my favorite people, I still LOVE to hang out with him, but I guess it just wasn't meant to be.

And then came my husband :). We met one summer when I was working as an intern. We were fast friends and I was immediately attracted to him, but we were JUST flirty friends. And we were friends for a couple of years before anything ever happened. We very obviously enjoyed each others company, talked on the phone all the time, etc. By the time he had decided I was "the one" for him, I had pretty much chalked up my feelings for him as a crush, so our timing was little off, but it didn't take long to get back in sync. We've been married 9 years and have baby #3 on the way!

That's awesome, congratulations. :D I, too, am planning to move to be closer to mine.. I am taking some time off school to work and get some important things out of the way first.. then hoping to move there and transfer schools in 12-18 months or so, depending on how things go. Ideally by Christmas '09.

Would flirting with a woman at a bar for about an hour count?

Since that was the most I really did lately

You're forgetting Cindy Crawford and Christie Brinkley

Also Rita Hayworth, but she's dead

No, Cindy Crawford and Brinkley basically have a thousand others just like them. Rita Hayworth is ugly to me.

Beauty to me is unique. Supermodels and porn stars are hot but don't have beauty. My ranking from top to bottom in order of supreme looks for girls:

-Beauty (Jennifer Grey)

-Super Cute (Elisha Cuthbert)

-Hot (Sasha Singleton)

-Cute (Kelly Kelly from WWE)

-Average (Cindy Crawford)

-Below Average (Ellen)

-Ugly (The rest of the population)

:D

I've seen some women that look a little like Brinkley, but I can't recall ever seeing anyone that looks like Crawford. Whether it's in real life, or a model/celebrity
