ECZEMA, severe, and most likely life-long requiring Rx steroids which serve to thin the skin and only mask the condition at best. Very expensive Rx treatments.

Complete intolerance and sensitivity to soaps, creams, fragrances and lotions. Something as simple as a Band-aid will cause an intense skin reaction. Even blood and simple PPD tests are a problem. Reaction to hot and even warm water; cool showers and baths from now on. Closed down our hot tub for good - can't use it. No way. Can't go into swimming pools either. Can't use most shampoos or conditioners. The list goes on and on ... ...

Good luck everyone! I wish you the best.

Chapped lips

Dry skin - flaking in spots

Joint aches and moderate hair loss at higher doses

Flushing of face and ears only at higher doses

irritability - though not enough to make note of to doctor

fatigue

fragile skin, though much better now

Increased confidence and the wonderful ability to go all day (and more) without looking in the mirror or blotting my face.

My side effects:

- Dry lips, and cracking at the corners(both side.. )

- Dry skin especially around the mouth/cheeks

- Dry eyes

- Dry hair

- I feel like loss of sexual drive(?)...sometimes...!

- bloody nose, sometimes

- Flushing of the face, only at the beginning of my course

- Fragile skin, easy to get scratch or get scars...have to be really careful

- Skin rash, mostly around my mouth or my arms...very annoying and itchy.. :'(\

But I really loves Accutane! It works for me and makes me feel better about myself! As 30not15 said, "Increased confidence and the wonderful ability to go all day (and more) without looking in the mirror or blotting my face."!!! Yay!

I'm having similar to most:

dry lips - in fact they peel almost every morning and are really red for a while. I was on a very

high dose to start (80 mg/day) and couldn't handle it. Went down to 40 mg/day for 2

weeks and then back up and my body adjusted much better.

dry skin

excema on my arms - didn't start until almost the end of month 2

joint pain

exhaustion

I'll put them in the order they came. The bold ones are the most annoying ones

Initial breakout

Dry eyes

Dry lips

Dry and fragile skin

Minor lower back pain (not sure if caused by accutane, went away after excercising a lot)

Minor lack of concentration and forgetting stuff (again not sure if caused by accutane, maybe I'm just too tired)

Dry patches/rashes on skin (caused by lack of moisturizing, disappeared after I moisturized daily)

Nothing bad for now, totally worth it (not a single pimple on my body after 10 weeks).

Initial breakout

Dry lips

Dry eyes

Flushed & dry skin (dryness not necessarily bad - was very oily before!)

Fatigue

Lack of concentration

Irritability/moodiness

Slight rash/extremely attractive scabby patches on hands

Am almost a week into month two - it hasn't really been THAT bad so far. Lack of concentration & moodiness have been the worst to deal with...

SKIN HEALS SLOWER! (When scabs would heal in 1 - 2 days, it now takes a full week)

I really think you should put more focus on the more serious side effects like loss of hearing, blurred vision, and severe migranes, all of which i got and had to stop accutane because of.

What you may think we consider minor may seem major to someone else. Some people may find they don't want to risk photosensitivity if they work outside or loss of night vision if they drive a lot at night for work or school. This thread is for ALL symptoms. Thanks for listing yours.

16 months or so post tane.

- Chronic, very severe joint pain 24/7 in every joint unresponsive to conventional medicine

- A case of mild IBS and constantly feeling sick with no/little appetite

- Sexual dysfunction

- Feeling of floatiness in the mind - brain fog

- Chapped lips and dry skin

These all developed AFTER I completed my course of accutane. The side effects I had whilst on it were chapped lips, dry skin, occassional nose bleed, joint aches and pains (very mild) and tiredness.

Many of these side effects will persist for years to come and I have no doubt that others will crop up for us all.

On my course I had the normal dryness and all that, most of the side effects wore off

within a month of being off Accutane, except my eyes. All of a sudden health problems

started popping up slowly just before it all spiraled out of control, the last 8

months has been the worst. I'm 23 months post accutane.

widespread chronic joint pain probably not as bad as sheefa's but it's hard to walk

cause of the ankle/foot pain and i can't bend my arms cuz the ligaments are so painful,

everything also clicks and cracks, even my face cracks loudly

systemic bodywide dryness, all my mucous membranes, eyes, hair, nasal passage, lips,

mouth and even throat are severely dry and mimic the symptoms of sjgrones syndrome. eyes

are chronically bloodshot inflamed blurry and in pain.

sexual dysfunction, ZERO sensation down there, complete loss of libido, horrible

erectile difficulties, and the volume of my stuff has dramatically reduced to just about

nothing.

The skin has thinned out all over my body, hands, P E N I S making it painful and sore,

eyes, skin ETC. My eye doctor said he fears me going blind cause the part behind my

cornea ( forget what it's called ) has been so thinned out.

Hairloss and my hairline has receded considerably, Rosacea flushing, my face burns and

turns deep red to certain triggers and even sitting around I still will flush for no

reason.

Breathing difficulties, can't take full deep breathes

Severe problems with my stomache and bowels, always bloated, appetite has reduced to

almost nothing, chronic diarrhea, all of this going undiagnosed of course but all my

symptoms match up to a typical case of chrons or inflammatory bowel disease.

Decreased sense of smell and taste

cardiac arrhythmia, basically heart palpitations

Chronic fatigue syndrome, always tired and no energy

Horrible blood circulation problems

There has been a complete change in my mind that's difficult to explain. I have a lack of sensation of natural feelings, I don't enjoy anything, not because I'm depressed but cause of the changes in my brain, I think positively all the time but still don't feel the natural feelings that normal healthy people do. It's a struggle to turn thoughts into complete sentences, my memory is shot, and my body feels like it's 100 years old.

Accutane was the biggest mistake of my life, and I will regret it forever, if I don't

kill my self
