trying to form a glycolic acid regime

Recommended Posts

Hi, I'm considering starting a glycolic acid regime but have no idea where to begin! I am wondering whether to try the gel or the acid and have no idea how strong of a percentage I need it. I want to fight both acne and red marks with this if possible. Also, I have tried Vitamin E oil, Jojoba Oil, the baby brush method, and Retin-A .025% and .05% and none of that has worked for me. I am wondering if I need something stronger or not. Any suggestions would be very helpful! Thank you so much.

well im currently using glycolic acid which i bought off ebay ive never seen creams or anything in th shops... but there again i never really looked for them.

the stronger the acid the less you use it though for example a 8% acid can be used everyother day straight off someting like 30% can only be used once a week straight off and be increased to several times a week after a little while.

there are several strenghts in this stuff depending on where you start depends on your skin.... if you have real sensivitve skin dont start on 50% it will just burn your skin.... i would reconmmend starting at a mid point if you dont have very sensitive skin (the highest you can get retail wise is 50%) so your looking at about the 30% ish (acid wise). you should also only use it on your skin for a few mins the first time to avoid irritation.

this type of gel/acid works by killing the top layer of your skin (a more effective version of things like bp) so it can take a few treatments to see a massive difference... so you have to use it at least for a month before judging (like most acne treatments).

also in your list i see you have tried vit E, have you tried zinc aswell? as this increases your bodys natural heal rate

if your looking for more effective peel you should ask a derm as they can perform treatments of 80%+ (you cant buy this as it needs to be done in a controlled enviroment)

also if your regium currently has an exfolator in it that is alkiline then you will use that after the acid (otherwise it will carry on 'eating' your skin
