Ok, I have been reading many posts on here about bactrim and most people get worse acne after the treatment. Is that true and why so?

I know there are people here who do not think bactrim should be used for acne. However, I have tried solodyn and other antibiotics and none of them worked for me. I also had two courses of accutane which worked great! But then my acne came back.

My derm says he has patients on bactrim for years and though I am sure people will disagree with that...I am on it and plan to stay on it. My skin is back to looking good. I stll get some blemishes but not often. The derm said that acne had like a 4 month cycle so I would still see pimples that had been under the skin surface. I have some red marks that the azalex is working on. I spend a lot of time on my skin. I also use a clarisonic brush which I love on it.

My back does appear to have some small scars on it (have to wait till the red marks fade and then see) and I can only imagine what it would be like without the bactrim.

Anyway it is the right choice for me. My skin is looking beautiful and I am really happy!

But does the acne get worse for all patients after the treatment. IF so, then why would a derm prescribe it to a patient
