Getting intolerance tests done?

Recommended Posts

For Celiac, go to your doctor. The tests they give are accurate for determining whether or not you have Celiac Disease. But if you test negative, that does not mean gluten is not contributing to or causing your acne; it still could be.

For food hypersensitivities, I don't think you can get those tests from your doctor (they will only test for food allergies that give an immediate reaction, which are not related to acne). There are tests like ALCAT and ELISA that you can get online. But these tests may not be completely accurate -- they could show up with false positives. The best way to determine your personal food sensitivities is through an elimination diet. But I guess those tests could give you a place to start -- you could eliminate all foods that show up, and then reintroduce one at a time to see if they really are a problem.
