Meh, tried the Zinc thing for a couple months with little results, I recently switched over to Vitamin D-3 instead. A recent Yahoo! article cited most adults are deficient in this very important vitamin. The FDA is going to raise the "safe limit" to 10,000 IU's daily. I'm currently taking 6K a day.

I've bought some zinc from my local shopping store, think it cost me around £3 for 90 tablets, they are 15mg and i take one a day like it says on the bottle, i think they are zinc oxide as i've looked at the ingredients and that is what it says for the first in their but i'm not sure, would that make them zinc oxide or is their another way of telling which one they are, also would taken these once a day help with my acne, i usually take them with food.

@ tommy_boi if it says Zinc oxide that is probably what it is. That form is not absorbed well. I would recommend getting Zinc Methionine (also known as Opti-Zinc). 15mg is not that much and that is probably not even elemental zinc. I would take 5-6 of those pills at least per day. Search these forums for more info about zinc.

Question:

Which form of Zinc supplement is better to take, Zinc Gluconate or Zinc Picolinate?

I was going to buy this:

http://www.walgreens.com/store/product.jsp..._sku=sku3846744

But was told this is better:

http://www.iherb.com/Now-Foods-Zinc-Picoli...psules/878?at=0

The price difference isn't that big but being a broke college student, I'd like to spend the least as long as I get the same results. Can someone fill me in? Thanks.

Picolinate is probably better absorbed. Zinc Methionine (better known as Opti-Zinc) is even better absorbed and is not supposed to interfere with copper absorption. You can find Opti-Zinc on iherb too but probably not in most stores. In the end Gluconate is probably good enough if you don't want to spend the extra money (although it really isn't that much more for a better absorb-able brand).
