IF you don't have a sensitivity to milk, home made kefir is the way to go. Cheap, easy and really contains the most variety of probiotics. If you have a sensitivity to milk, cultured soy products are a good alternative. If you have multiple sensitivities, then going the pill route is really the only alternative. Food sources that you personally cultured are the best way, since you get fresh, live bacteria and control the ingredients. Store bought food products would be next. THey might be a little more expensive, and they may contain additives, sugar and questionable amounts of probiotic. Pills and other probiotic supplements are the least favorable. They are generally expensive, and the viability of the probiotics in freeze dried supplements are questionable. Make sure the pills are enteric coated, or all the good bugs will be destroyed by your stomach acid, and make sure you take em on an empty stomach so the pills pass through your stomach quicker. Supplements may be good for people with candida issues, since they are usually sensitive to pretty much everything such as milk and soy.
