My story of success after 15 years of acne....

Recommended Posts

Hi lolobaby, I really like eating fruit. Will this lemon juice work even if I eat fruit? Do you think fruit could be my problem? Right not I'm eliminating everything except fruit and a couple of other foods. I like to eat the following:

Bananas, pears, rasberries, strawberries, blueberries, grapes, plums, oranges, nectarines, peaches, melons, apples and pineappples.

Hi...

I buy my organic lemon juice at health food / natural food stores. It says "organic" and I don't think that it is from concentrate. It comes in a bottle that is around 570 ml, costs about $5 Canadian and lasts me about 1 1/2 - 2 weeks. Of course sounds like others have been buying organic lemons from their grocery or health food stores & squeezing them to make their own juice. If it doesn't say organic then it's not organic!

And the brand is Santa Cruz - made in the US so it should be available there - not sure about other places, but there must be something similar.

As far as eating fruit - my naturopath was very surprised that I reacted to fruit the way that I did. My skin got worse than it had ever been when I was on the elimintation diet that required only eating fruit in the morning. It also made me feel nauseous & tired all morning. I still don't eat a lot of fruit - usually one piece in the afternoon. It's so hard to say how people will react to certain things, I can eat processed sugar with minimal problems but not natural sugar which doesn't seem to make a lot of sense. If your problem is an allergy do a search on the internet on elimination diets and even candida - too much yeast in the body. Avoid all common allergenic foods like dairy, wheat, white starches (rice, bread, pasta, etc.), caffeine, red meat (lamb is okay), corn, bananas, white sugar, nuts, greasy food and chocolate. When you find an elimination diet that cuts out the things I just mentioned and maybe some other things you should notice a difference in a week or two. You may feel tired the first few days

but should feel better than ever after 3 days. If this seems too harsh for you maybe try to follow this Chinese food temperature guide first. Stick to cold, cool and a few neutral foods for a week or two to see if it makes a difference.

"In China, the temperature of food does not refer to how hot or cold the food is physically, but rather the heating effect and the cooling effect of the food. Food can be classified as Hot, Warm, Neutral, Cool or Cold."

Hot food has a heating effect on us. Have you eaten curry and found that there is heat stirring up within you and you even start sweating? This also happens when we eat chili or something spicy. This is due to the heat present in the food. This heat warms our bodies, and is also responsible for causing heat-related health problems such as fever, headache, sore eyes, sore throat, and bloodshot eyes. It is this heat that causes pimples to rise on your face, so the Chinese are careful not eat too much hot food. The heat can also irritate us and make our temper "hotter". During cold seasons, the Chinese eat more hot food to keep warm.

Have you seen women sticking slices of fruit or cucumber on their face? You may wonder how does it helps their faces. Cucumbers and other fruits and vegetables are known for their cooling effect, and cucumbers have been used for facials. Beauticians have also encouraged people to eat more fruits and vegetables and to drink water (water is neutral) to have a good skin. Cold food cool us down, but also require more energy for digestion, as they take away warmth. But overcooling can cause us to have a cold, cough, diarrhea, and stomach pains.

It is possible to balance the heat in our food. People have also adjusted the temperature of the food they eat according to the climate."

Here is a list of foods and their temperatures:

HOT Black pepper, butter, chicken fat, chocolate, coffee, crispy rice, curry, hot chilies, lamb, mango, onions, peanut butter, sesame seeds, smoked fish, trout, whisky

WARM Beef, brown sugar, cheese, chestnuts, chicken, egg yolk, dates, garlic, ginger, green pepper, ham, leeks, oats, peaches, pomegranates, potato, turkey, turnips, walnuts, vinegar, wine

NEUTRAL Apricots, beet roots, bread, broad beans, brown rice, cabbage, carrots, cauliflower, cherries, egg whites, grapes, honey, water, milk, oysters, peanuts, peas, plums, pork, raisins, salmon, sugar, sweet potatoes

COOL Almonds, apples, barley, broccoli, celery, corn, fish, mushrooms, mangos, oranges, pears, pineapple, radishes, salt, seaweed, spinach, strawberries, tangerines, turnip, watermelon, wheat

COLD Bananas, bean sprouts, cucumbers, duck, grapefruit, green tea, lettuce, ice cream, mussels, peppermint, tofu, tomato, yogurt

hi lolobaby...it's me again...i am very keen to try your recipe of success and therefore have been looking around major healthstores to get the organic lemon juice..unfortunately, all the major health stores that i went to, GNC, Nature's Farms do not carry organic lemon juice. They have organic apple juice and sorts but not lemon juice..

I went round the supermarkets and only 1 supermart carried it but it's called organic lemonade by hrorizon organic. I am not so sure if it really is organic juice so could I just check the ingredients in ti against yours? Here are the ingredients of the lemonade:

Filtered water

Certified organic lemon juice (15%)

Certified organic evaporated cane juice

ascorbic acid (Vitamin C)

Vitamin C 100%

Sodium 40mg

Total Carb 27 g : Sugars 27g

Amount per serving: Calories 110

It's a 16oz bottle that costs me Singapore Dollars $5.90. It's not much difference to canadian dollars as singapore currency and canadian currency is almost 1:1.

It also states servings per container: 2

It is very diluted not concentrated like the literally squeezed lemon juice.

Are the ingredients and nutrition facts similar to yours?

Please advise

Cheers!

Btw, I do not know what happened to my skin..the breakouts are very bad on what used to be the better side of my face that I have been hibernating at home and can't face the crowd..

Hi dan..I've been on your regimen for almost 1.5 months now and i was clear for the 1st month but since 2 weeks back, my skin erupted..i have been following your regimen religiously step by step and don't know what's wrong with my system..

Hi there...

Sorry I am usually not online on the weekend...I'm on my computer all day at work during the week and very rarely go online on the weekend.

I will try to help as much as I can regarding the last two people who asked me questions....

As far as lemonade vs. lemon juice....you're right - the lemonade is way too diluted and contains cane juice which is a natural sugar but it is SUGAR which could aggravate your skin. If you can't find the lemon juice - try to get organic lemons...if you can't find those try grocery store lemons. The juice I get is 100% lemon juice. And organic means that something has not been sprayed with pesticides, artificial fertilizers, etc. It is as natural as it gets.

And in regards to the other question about whether I have greasy skin - yes! Sometimes I think I have more oily skin then anyone I know...I used to get shiny 1/2 an hour after washing my face. Very annoying!!! Let's see...the hot water and lemon juice definitely helps. I still use oil blotting papers (The Body Shop) 2-3 times a day. However, I've become lazy. I found that my skin was the least oily when I was taking mega doses of vitamin B5 (up to 12,000 mg a day) and vitamin A (up to 80, 000 IU a day). The b5 is water soluable so you don't have to worry about too much - your body will just expel what it doesn't use. Vitamin A in these doses is not good for your liver long term and definitely not if you're pregnant! Give one or both a try but if you're going to do the Vitamin A make sure you take Vitamin E (400 iu) at least three times a day as well. And when I took too much, the skin on my arms, thighs and butt got quarter-size red rash spots which immediately cleared up as soon as I stopped taking so much. Side effects of too much vitamin b5 sometimes - diarrhea. So, yes, I still get oily but not as much as I used to.

Soooo....my suggestion - from what I've learned - sometimes less is more. Try the lemon juice and hot water 3- 4 times a day first for a couple weeks. Always continue the lemon juice no matter what else you do - it will not do any harm. If you don't notice any difference - try the b5(pantothenic acid) - start at 5,000 mg 3x a day and after 3 days gradually go up to as much as 12,000 mg 3x a day. Try that for another couple of weeks. If that doesn't work, try the Vitamin A. Start at 30, 000 IU a day and go up to 80,000 IU a day. Make sure you are getting good brands of vitamins! (ask a naturopath or health food store owner about good ones) Yes, they will be more expensive but worth it.

Oh, another thought - zinc. I didn't find this every really did much for me but I've heard it has helped a lot of other people. I think they take 50 mg 3x a day and get one that has about 2 mg of copper.

Whatever you try - don't do too many things all at once - I did this and it really messed my body up for awhile.

Vitamins you can always take together: Vitamin C, E, and zinc. And of course the lemon juice and water!

Just be wary of Vitamin A.

Another thing - try a fast, detox and / or food elimination diet (lots available online!).

There are lots of options...so don't give up okay??? Also, read my other posting on Chinese Food Temperature and Mental Anxiety associated with acne for other suggestions... especially the one on mental anxiety for info on Bach Flower Remedies.

Good luck!!! :D

I would encourage those who are taking Vitamin A to not take up to 80,000 I.U. a day. That is a LOT of vitamin a and it's not good for your liver so why risk it? The most vitamin A you should probably take a DAY is around 30,000 I.U. But you can just take beta carotene around the 75,000 to 100,000 I.U. a day. The beta carotene is converted into vitamin A by the liver. But taking 80,000 I.U. of straight Vitamin A a day is definately not good over a period of time. (but who knows what the time frame is)

I don't want to undermine what anyone else says but I just thought I'd mention that a naturopath suggested to me to take up to 80,000 IU of Vitamin A a day, but not to do that longer than a few months, and then cut back to 30, 000 IU a day. And always take the Vitamin E which should ensure your liver does not get damaged. And only do this regimen if you have an extreme case of acne, eg. cystic acne like I had.

Vitamin A, (Vitamin A is actually in Accutane but is a more natural form) should only be used in large amounts as a last resort. I've never tried the Beta-carotene but I was told from my naturopath that because I already had a problem with my liver breaking down particular types of foods (sugar) then Vitamin A was the best thing to take.

In the end, the best thing to do is inform yourself - always do research before you take anything new and then decide what is right for you!

Hey Lolababy,

I just read about your lemon success, and I can't wait to try it out. I just have a couple questions. The first is in regard to washing your face. You didn't mention any type of cleaser or moisturizer that you use. Also, do you wear the almay make up every day? And if so, with what do you remove it at the end of the day. I've been handed glycolic acid everything from just about every facialist in the DC area, and I've tried glycolic peels, alpha hydroxy peels, facials, and the works. It was so nice to hear that there's something out there that works without requiring millions of dollars and tons of time spent on treatments.

Thanks,

Dev

Hi Dev,

I use an all natural, no fragrance, glycerin soap (health food stores carry them - cost 1 or 2 dollars), not just on my face, on my whole body. I still use BP almost every day - 2.5% Nuetrogena during the day with a bit of "Complex 15" moisturizer and 5% BP Clean & Clear Persagel at night. And yep, I wear the Almay foundation everyday. I usually apply with a wet sponge - not too thick. Sometimes I dilute it with water or the complex 15 depending on how dry my skin is too.

Sometimes if I want a really deep clean then I use Dove unscented soap - this soap is so drying and strong though - it takes out every kind of stain imaginable too! LOL... I got oil paint out of a white t-shirt with the Dove unscented!

Hope that helps!

Lolo

The diet that lolobaby's naturopath recommended her was documented in an excellent book called - The mucusless Healing Diet System - written by Prof. Arnold Ehret back in the 1920s - It is the most fabulous book.

In the last few years - a company www.acne-free.com - has simplified this system of eliminating foods and drinking the lemon juice drink - the manual costs around $40 and has a 1 year money back guarantee and full email support. I have it, I think you should all get it.

AND seriously - it really works - you should notice serious results quite quickly.

I ordered the About Face Clear Skin program from <www.acne-free.com> and received it last night. As I read it, I was amazed that it was almost the exact same regimen my naturopath had put me on. It truly is an amazing book of information. Pricey considering how it is produced but the information is worth more than I can say.

The great thing for me was how it explained everything simply and now I understand why the things I do work - including the lemon juice and water.

All I have to say is - get it!!!
