quick question regarding total dosage

Recommended Posts

I asked a similar question a few weeks ago and got no reply. So here I go again,

According to most ppl in the Accutane FAQ stickies, it is generally recommended if you want a good chance of long term remission, to have a cumulative dose btwn 120-150mg/kg.

I just wanted to know if anyone here has actually gone OVER 150mg/kg at the end of their treatment course? And if it's actually safe to do so.

I have been on 40mg of Tane for five months and 50mg for one month now and my derm wants to put me on that same dosage (40) for two more months - for a total of eight months and 9,900mg . I only weigh about 142lb so my total would be roughly 154mg/kg

Is that safe? Or should I just do 7 months instead of 8 just to be safe?

Its not specifically bad. just 4 over is only 2.6%

Just make sure your doctor is looking at your blood samples and that you are monitoring your symptoms. You can always quit half way through 8...
