how much time to spend in the sun without sunscreen?

What would you say: For which amount of time is it ok to have sunlight on your face without using a sunscreen?

I'm exposed to the sun around 10 minutes everyday on my face and neck daily during my car ride to school. Do you think these 10 minutes ,after a period of time, will worsen my hyperpigementation marks? Also, do car windows filter out UV rays?

In direct sunlight I can burn in under 5 minutes, but I'm very pale. The average person could go longer. It's a good thing I like the pale look. ;)

Wynne is right - 15 mins max.

I thought that I read somewhere that the only window that has any real UV screen is the windshield.

I don't *think* that 10 mins/day would significantly impact hyperpigmentation, but if you're concerned, why take the chance?

If the car windows are tinted it does filter out UV rays. However, different qualities of tints are available and some filter better than others.
