Is there any experince out there with MaxFX. Is it different and better than the old CO2 that I had done in 1996. The down time is basically the same as CO2. Finding practitioners is rather difficult since there is more money in boob jobs.

This website has a lot of technical jargon between doctors, but I found this quote interesting.

"i have the fraxel and it is now never used. acne scarring --- deep fx amazing. single treatment results that 20 fraxel could really not achieve"

The new Fractional CO2 lasers are different and better than the old CO2. Yes, they both use CO2, but the old one only works on the surface and is fully ablative to the surface. The new ones send deep co2 columns into the skin that removed tissue at depths the original co2 never came close to touching. The down time is not even close to what the original co2 was, unless like me you get very high settings. But even then I am healing way better and its a different type of healing being that my whole surface area wasn't ablated. The deal is this. The Fraxel Re:Pair penetrates the deepest out of all the other fractional co2 laser. It can go up to 1.6mm. The Total FX I beleive goes 1mm into the skin and then the Mixto only goes .5mm into the skin. The Re:Pair is the top fractional co2 laser out right now and it has over 2years of testing behind it.
