Asian People, Black People and Acne

Recommended Posts

From my experience, I noticed Asian (as in chinese, korean..etc) and black people have FLAWLESS skin for the most part. Super clear and smooth looking. Yes I have seen plenty of asians and blacks with acne, but its almost uncommon. But I rarely seen blacks or asians with severe acne. The asians and blacks that do have acne, its barely noticable. But there is a example of a asian person I know with severe cysts acne. This asian kid in my class had severe inflammed cysts that covered almost his entire left side of his face. Anyways, i didnt go to class for like 2 weeks, and when I came back, his freaking face was cleared! I was about maybe a few yards away at most. I still saw some red spots on where his acne was, but there were NO SCARS AT ALL. no dents or anything. The red spots were flat. Severe Cysts 99.9 percent gurantees scaring. I dont know this kid did it, but he must of had some miracle routine, but yeah good for him.

*snort* Um, sorry, but I don't agree at all. Partly because I'm Asian myself, and also because I know so many other Asians who have problems with their skin...Asians can actually have more oily skin than paler people. And "black" people's acne is generally less obvious, because their skin is so much darker. But if you look closer, you can often see acne.

Im guessing you didnt read my post, I said most asians I seen, of course there are asians without perfect skin...but I would say atleast 70 percent of the ones I seen have perfect skin, if I was to estimate.

no hes rite..alot of asians have AMAZING skin...but alot have very bad acne as well..and for the black people they problably get acne the worst, especially the guys because of there hair texture, there the ones who get the razor razor bumps that alot of times get big and inflamed.

There are a lot of black kids at my school and many of them have pretty oily skin with little bumps...it's just not as obvious from far away

It doesn't matter if another race suffers less from acne. What matters is that you can't change your race for 10 billion bucks. Dna change is impossible today. I guess you could paint yourself black.. but that would not really work except act like makeup.

Then I'll give a few more reasons why I don't agree with your "observation" (only a few, mind you, because I don't want to be here all day).

You can't just divide people up into "white", "asian", and "black". "Black" skin can come in so many shades that to just lump them all under one name seems a little ridiculous. Do you mean African, mixed African heritage, or what? And Asians can be very pale or very tanned, depending on what country they're from. And what about "White" people in hotter countries such as Spain, where they are naturally darker?

Secondly, exactly how many asians/black people do you happen to see on a general basis? Surely in Texas the majority of people will be white, so your sample is larger, and you are more likely to see cases of acne.

Thirdly, like Pwndami says, why does it even matter? It's not as if you can trade races.

I'm sorry if I'm being overly harsh, but your generalisations were just too broad.

Hmm..I agree with you to some degree. Frankly, I was quite shcked to see this website's gallery because I've never seen such severe cases around here.

However, while extreamly severe acne is rare, I could say whole country is dealing with acne. One famouse chinse medicine clinic which specialises in acne (chinese medicine is quite popular way to deal with acne here) is booked for like 5 months even if they cost over $1400 worth of money for a month, (sometimes it takes over 6 months to treat some severe cases).

Oh, I live in Korea by the way.

hahahah ..acne is not racists..it attacks everyone and anyone...but well..im going to make a comment from what i notic..no research to back up this statement..it's not a fact..just what i have observed as being an asian kid myself..

when i break out hardcore..i heals VERY nicely..w/ leaving horrible indent scars ..unless i have a really bad one but it will leave a nice red spot .. (and i have cystic acne..BAD)...and this has happened to me twice...i notice a few other asians are the same when it comes to acne healing....

---i say ..must be something in the rice (i simply love rice ..yummy!!)

Personally I don't see any difference. Around here (perhaps where I live is the exception, I don't know, but it's so depressing it's untrue), everyone has clear skin, no matter what race. Whatever age they are, everyone has clear skin. I can count the number of people I have seen with very mild acne on one hand, and I have NEVER in my life come face to face with anyone with acne anywhere near as bad as mine (moderate/severe). That is the full truth, and as a result I feel isolated and depressed as hell. Life is crap - but I guess it's a case of get used to it and live with it.

What? Totally the opposite from my view, I think asians get it more and also the more severe cases I always see are on asians (Im asian and had severe acne).

Asian skin is usually slightly more oilier and so is more prone to acne

Rice is way much better than flour, don't you think? I mean, acne-wise.

Vietnamese are genious. They invented pho(rice noodle).

well asian people have thicker skin , so they will make them heal better if they do get acne. And black people usually have dry skin. All my black friends carry a body of lotion with them in their car. I wish I had dry skin...instead of oily skin.

A study I read about the prevalence in acne in caucasian and black women across various age groups actually showed that up until age 40, the prevalence of acne is higher in black women than in white women - this was particularly true for comedonal acne, but also true for inflamed acne. They were also more likely to have severe acne than were white women. After age 40, the prevalence rates drop for both groups of women, but ends up being slightly higher for white women. Here is an excerpt from the study:

Data analysis

Analyses of the data showed that the prevalence rates of both inflammatory and comedonal acne subtypes were higher overall in black women compared with Caucasian women.

When the study participants were divided into subgroups by age, teenagers among both black and Caucasian women had the highest rates of acne, and the prevalence remained higher among blacks in age subgroups including women up to 40 years old. However, Caucasians were more often affected by acne than blacks among older women.

"Available acne prevalence data are decades old and based predominantly on studies of Caucasian women. This investigation was designed to explore some recent anecdotal evidence that acne is becoming more common in older individuals and to gather information on prevalence in different ethnic and racial groups,"

Those are stereotypes you made. I cannot stand it when people stereotype

Everyone stereotypes. The only difference is that he has written it down here on the forum :)
