hellonoobz 0 Share Posted April 12, 2008 Im getting all my supplements in line. I got my fish oil ones thanks to some help from people on here. I also want to take Zinc just because I think it will help. What happens if I get the recommended amount of zinc on a daily basis already and then I turn around and take a Zinc supplement? Is it possible to overdose? I was just going to do a small mg, like 10 or 15.Also, do I need to take anything with the zinc?
abd 0 Share Posted April 12, 2008 You should be fine taking 25-30mg of Zinc as long as you don't exceed over 100mg of it per day.
rakbs 1 Share Posted April 12, 2008 If you've eaten grains and similar foods throughout your life you will not have had optimal zinc absorption, and if you've had a diet high in HFCS, then you won't have had optimal zinc function. Just a heads-up.The RDA for zinc is too low anyway, taking a 25-50 mg supplement shouldn't cause any problems. If you go higher than 25 mg, consider a copper supplement. AlexGF 0 Share Posted April 12, 2008 I just found out that almonds, sunflower seeds and walnuts have copper, I eat them often, should it be good enough??
bÉesstheʄẚÉÉ 0 Share Posted April 12, 2008 1 oz of Almonds has 0.315mg of copper. You'd need 6oz of em to get the requirement.
AlexGF 0 Share Posted April 12, 2008 what if I cut the zinc tablet in half? 3 oz beef liver has 12 mg of copper!! wow maybe I'll see if I can get one
rakbs 1 Share Posted April 13, 2008 Yeah, I was just about to suggest liver. There are some random foods that are rich in copper, I just can't think of them right now.
