Sometimes using BP has the unfortunate effect of ruining my shirts. I've noticed that when it happens, it seems to start with a small area but the bleaching gets worse and worse with subsequent washings, like the BP is still in there and not getting washed out and continuing to have a bleaching effect.

Well, I noticed a small bleached area near the collar of a nice sweater that I'd really prefer not to have ruined. It's small and on the inside so you'd never notice it, but I'm afraid that it will get worse when I was it again. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can try to arrest the bleaching where it is before it gets worse?

I've read that vinegar inactivates bleach, but that may only refer to chlorine bleach.
