brazilian wax

Recommended Posts

I've never had a brazilian wax before, but I have waxed my own bikini line, legs, and underarms. It's not bad doing it. Didn't really hurt that much after the first time, but since I'm on tane now.... no more waxing. :|

The wax I would use is this really great stuff from Sephora called Poetic Waxing. The kit comes with oil to massage into the skin which acts as a barrier between the wax (it's green!) and your skin. This way the wax only picks up your hair instead of pulling up the hair and your skin, which makes things much more painful. The wax 'shrink-wraps' around the hair or something... Can't wait until I can use it again!

Not at all actually. That's how I came to tweezing. I too shaved for a long time but after a while I had a constant razor-burn with millions of tiny red bumps. After awhile I couldn't shave anymore. So I started tweezing by removing the ingrown hairs that I got from the shaving. That kind of got me thinking.

I will say the first time I tweezed it was a little red for about 24 hours. The second time I did it there was noticeably less hair and it was finer. Also it was markedly less sensitive when plucking. There will be a few ultra fine hairs that could be a pain to get but you really don't feel them and you definately don't see them. Just tweeze the darker hairs. OF course if you're blonde this may be difficult. My hair and skin are quite a contrast so I don't have a problem.

A tip though, for some reason it is easier to pull out semi-short hair rather than full grown. So if you're just coming off of waxing or shaving, let it get to about 1/3 of an inch, or just to where it is still straight. For some reason when it gets too long and begins to curl it hurts a bit. So trim it first. Also, pull by the root of the hair if you can.

Hope this helps.

so summer is coming! i'm very excited. bikini time!

every summer, i used to just shave the parts that my bikini would show (you know, down there). but this year, i'm thinking of just brazilian waxing that whole thing. i've never had waxing done before, so i'm a bit scared (?). i've shaved, only because it's obviously pain free.

but i heard from somebody that brazilian wax is most painful wax ever! ouch.

(for those of who you don't know what brazilian wax is, it's when you wax everything down there).

have anybody tried this?? does it really hurt that much??

i can stand pain, but i just wanna know HOW much it would hurt so i could prepare myself.. :P

i've gotten many brazilians... started about 3 years ago or so. i don't get them monthly or anything, just when the spirit moves me. yes, they are painful... and they will continue to be painful, always. take 2 ibuprofen before you go and be sure to do it the week AFTER your period, pain tolerance will be the highest.

i love the lady who does mine... i've been going to her since i was about 15 for my eyebrows and we just chat like old friends with the business all in the open. i thought it would be weird the first time, but it was like this:

"So, have you seen any good movies lately?"

"Well, the other week i sa *RIIIIIIIIIIIP* shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiittt! *Insert movie here*"

it takes about 30 minutes and is well worth it. i've tried to do it on my own and have succeeded fully only once. usually after the first strip i am done with that shit and calling the salon.

Oh I could never wax my own, ouch! Ive gotten a regular bikini wax before, never a Brazilian though, just sounds too painful!!

Course the wax reacted with me and I swelled up horrifically down there. Havent been for a waxing since.

Oh wow you all...I would never consider a brazilian wax. Maybe I'm just a sissy, but I don't wax period. I shave what needs to be shaved, and I pluck my eyebrows. I'm lucky enough to be able to bleach the lip hair area and that's really it. I just shave/trim the area for the summer. Waxing is just...I have no words.lol

I have gotten a brazillian for the past 2 years and I will never look back on shaving again!! Seriously the first time that I went it was probably the worst pain of my life but it only took about 15 minutes and then it was all over. It definitely beats getting ingrown that shaving causes. In the summer it is a MUST!

How long does a brazilian wax last, on average?

about 15 or 20 minutes when it's all said and done.

and remember to BREATH.

Honey its not hat bad! I swear by no hair down there! I find that if you shave your peach and you just keep shaving eventually the hair will grow back thicker and thicker... but go for a full brazillian at least once every six months to keep the hair from getting too thick. Personally i find that waxing is not that bad and the results are worth it. Suffer for beauty honey! just relax and grin and bear it., its over before you know it! Im sure your man wud appreciate it aswell so you'll forget the pain quickly! the more you go the less it hurts ;)

I have never gotten a brazilian, but just last week I got a bikini wax for the first time (my BF wanted me to for a long time, I finally gave in) and all I could say was OUCH!!!! It hurt really bad, but I liked the results, and I guess I can bear the pain and get a brazilian because I don't want any hair at all, and I don't like shaving.

I hope it doesn't hurt as much ther second time around!

As a real Brazilian myself, -cough-, xD, I'm going to tell you that getting a Brazilian wax isn't half bad and I absolutely love not having to worry about shaving every couple of days, especially me, because as Brazilian living on the beach, I spend a lot of time there. Anyways, the best thing I can suggest is to, like everyone else has said, relax and find a specialist who you're willing to talk to a little! Get someone who is professional, comfy, and experienced. Also, if you go in thinking it'll hurt, it will. (: The results are definitely worth it. And as a side note, a Brazilian wax isn't "everything is completely gone" a real Brazilian wax leaves a small, trimmed stripe of hair down the front. Uhm? I think I explained that right? XD haha. It's hard to explain.

But yes, I've lived in Brazil for the last year now, after moving from the States (and shaving there!!) and I couldn't be happier.

i get brazilian waxes...the salon i go to has a special wax that's more expensive ($25 for a brazilian with the regular wax, $40 with this wax) and it really doesn't hurt at all, you just feel the pulling which is kinda annoying. plus, my waxer is an expert, i don't think she's ever been down there for more than five minutes. totally worth it.

I'm with all those cringing. I can't imagine why anyone would want to shave or wax beyond the bikini line.

idk...i know its supposed to be there but to me it just feels more hygenic when there's nothing down there.

i had mine done for the first time like 3 weeks ago. i consider myself to be a complete wuss when it comes to pain but I really didn't think it hurt that much. it hurt yes, but definetly nowhere near as much as I thought it would do!!

question for those that are following this thread though - despite my having the hair long enough to be waxed, i was still left with some stubble after the wax. is this normal?! i thought the results we supposed to super smooth, and after having forced myself go through the pain i was a little disapointed to see that it wasn't as smooth as i thought it would be :(

I was left with some stubble too because I thought I had let my hair grow long enough, but this wasn't the case. Some hair grows slower on some parts so you have to be careful with letting it grow out evenly. When I got my bikini wax the lady had to pluck the shorter hairs and it caused some bruising down there from the plucking. The whole experience was pretty excruciating for me, and i'm still not completely sure if I want to go back, but I really liked the results after the redness and bruising were gone!

Where exactly do they wax? Like... completely everything down there? :shifty:

Uh...sorry if this is a dumb question lol.

If you get a brazilian then yes, they get all the hair including the hair on your a-hole (LOL sorry if TMI) according to one poster a real brazilian leaves a little strip of hair so I guess it depends on how you like it, but here in America a brazilian is defined as the one where they remove every trace of hair down there, someone correct me if i'm wrong.
