Hot Compress??

Recommended Posts

What types of acne do these best work for... Right now i have a red spot on my cheek that hurts, but i dont think its a cyst really. I have had it for like 2 days now and it has not come to a head. Do you guys think a hot compress would work for it? and how exactly do i perform one?

Hot compresses have usually worked for me, when I feel a pimple "brewing" and it's under the skin, sometimes tender to the touch, a raised red bump, but not a cyst. Usually I would have a red bump for almost 5 days before it would come to a head. However, when I use a hot cloth, and hold it to the pimple, it will usually comes to a head while I'm doing it (you have to keep putting the wash cloth under hot water 'cos it doesn't stay hot for very long - not scorching hot water though).

A facialist I went to said to use a hot compress each night before going to sleep. It opens up your pores. And I also find after using a hot compress, my products work better since they're penetrating easier into the pore.

It works for me.

It works well for pustules, the type where its hard to get the core of the zit out. It also works on papules.

Hot compresses work very well for me. Instead of 5-7 days of a zit hanging around it usually cut back to two. If I have a big one forming I do compresses 2 to 3 times a day for 20 minutes at a time. It is inconvenient to be in the bathroom that long but it really does bring it to a head much faster. It should work well on pustules, nodules and cysts. I find that hot compresses basically get rid of the need to pop it or the urge to. If I do it at night, I then use tea tree oil or some sulfur lotion on it and it really looks better by morning.
