Could someone please tell me what this is? (close up pic)

Recommended Posts

This is my first post. I have checked out some of the other threads already, but I am still just unsure if it is the same as what others have described.

Is it Pityrosporum folliculitis ?

Is it even acne?

Are these white heads?

This is a problem I have on my chin. It is only visible up close, but since it isn't smooth, my (Mineral) make up clumps up.

I've tried exfoliating but it just comes back. Popping seems to cause the redness you see in the picture.

Background: I use the oil cleansing method, I've had DRY SKIN (eczema) all my life, I am very sensitive to products/chemicals.

I haven't ever had severe acne, but occasionally I would get 1 or 2 HUGE pimples that hurt a lot.

sorry if this grosses anyone out.

I just want to know what it is, then I can search these message boards for possible solutions, though any suggestions would be appreciated too.

I would avoid popping them, but regular exfoliating could be beneficial to the skin. How have you been exfoliating?

You just have a patch of mild acne with a bunch of clogged pores.

Since you have sensitive skin, I suggest trying out some samples of the 1% and 2% beta hydroxy acid products from Paula's Choice (www.cosmeticscop.com).

These are very well-formulated and gentle salicylic acid products that will penetrate the skin and exfoliate inside the pores. They are at a low pH for effective exfoliation, but are the least irritating salicylic products I've ever come across.

Samples are available very cheaply. Since you have dry skin you might want to try the gel or the lotion.

Hey!!!

Those white things are exactly what I have!! (and just posted about!)

So the offical verdict is 'clogged pores'?

Thats a huge relief as I was convinced that it was something far more sinister.

I have a feeling that what helped the most (and I don't really try different acne products) was Clinque's night time treatment gel .... although I can't remember what the main ingredient that was, but presumably something exfloliating, like salicyic acid.

I'm currently trying out BP which is also has a mild peeling effect....

Hmmmm.

I have those too but not as many and they are off to the side somewhere. Ive had them for awhile and I dont know how to get rid of them either. I have extremely sensitive skin and it seems like my skin is allergic to everything I use

I seriously thought I was the only person who had this, never knew what it was so I never did anything about it but it didn't really worry me much... I've used exfoliation products before and it didn't make a difference to that area... but yeah never pop them or anything because those little tiny things become big pimples.

i have the same problem below my lips and on my nose as well. nosestrips seem to be the only thing that is effective to remove them but they come right back within a couple of days. and they also leave large visible pores. i just ordered some BHA tho hopefully that will do the trick

its hard not to pick at them because they are so hideous and stick out! they dont really pop..i just use tweezers to pull them out

Do they leave holes or anything after you pick them out? I'm always afraid to...but I'm afraid leaving them in will enlarge my pores or something...
