I found my regimen

Recommended Posts

(I am 27. acne on face, chest, and back since around 14)

Thanks to everyone on here. I tried to make my routine as simple as possible. 1 so i actually do it, and 2 i refuse to use drugs the rest of my life just for my skin.

1st off, some may disagree, but i found this true for myself. SUGAR = BAD

regardless we all know it is bad for your health. I have realized that eating a balanced diet, I stay clear. Candy binges, heavy alcohol, I breakout guaranteed. I am super healthy besides my skin. I rarely get sick and always stay in shape. I simply take a multi and Fish oil. Eat like a diabetic and your blood sugar will stay good, reflecting in your skin.

Now for my routine.

Morning

Warm water rinse, then Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser. (the facial has fragrance)

http://www.cetaphil.com/Products/Default.aspx

rinse, pat dry

Shave (i always used electric. Braun has served me well for years. the rotating ones scraped up my neck)

Dickinson witch hazelwith a cotton pad.

http://www.witchhazel.com/

Olay Complete Plus Ultra Rich Moisture Lotion - Extra Dry Skin - SPF 15

http://www.olay.com/boutique/complete/products/co1009

Lily of the Desert Organic Aloe Gelly for my hair.

http://www.lilyofthedesert.com/00118.html

Night

Shower

I have been using Miessence OrganicLemon Myrtle Shampoo

but it is expensive and does not lather well for me.

i do like the conditioner though still pricey Miessence Organic Shine Herbal Hair Conditioner

I am going to try Encouras Citrus organic shampoo and condtioner since cheaper next. The regular shampoos are soooooo bad. I often had scalp acne. Once I switched, my scalp has been clear and my back improved as well.

next

Baby brush face with water

Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser

Brush chest and back with stiff brush

(i had been using Cetaphil bar soap. but read the stuff in bars is bad.)

tried Encoura's Peppermint organic wash, but does not lather well with my hard water.

Today used: Dr. Bronner - Organic Castile Soap Peppermint

http://www.amazon.com/Dr-Bronner-Organic-C...sim_hpc_title_4

this stuff ROCKS. Never felt so clean. though very tingly in um a certain area. not bad though. and it's cheap. Lathered super easily. I got 2 bottles. They should last me a LONG time.

Rinse.

Towel face then upper body. Then hair. (just to keep the hair products off skin just in case)

Dickinson witch hazel on face chest and back.

Lily's Organic Aloe Gelly on chest back and arms.

Reviva Alpha Lipoic Acid Vitamin C Ester & Dmae Cream night cream for face.

(sometimes I'll use the Aloe Vera on my face if going out at night after the shower)

since I hit the beach and tan well... i know i know... I am super active and sun exposure is inevitable anyway...

I used Coppertone® Oil Free Lotion SPF15

1st one not to break me out. though a site reports it along with most well known names does not protect you well. I got California Baby SPF30. but it is super thick and expensive. Though reported to perform very well and not break me out. I am still searching for a good 15-30 SPF product though. Only tried this one once.

I try to use gentle low risk products. I used this resource to help me choose some products: http://www.cosmeticsdatabase.com/index.php

Hei Ville!

I liked your approach. I also try to use 'safe' products-- well actually at the moment, I'm just using water and Dr Hauschka moistursing cream. I actually love their products.

So what do you think to using extra virgin olive oil?

I'm wondering also if a St John's Wort toner might be a good idea.

Hmmmm.

PS any connection to Finland? Ville is a Finnish name! (as is Meri-Tuuli).

of the organic/natural shampoos i've tried, Burt's Bees grapefruit/beet sugar works the best and is the cheapest. going to try the conditioner when my other ones run out.

my skin is doing very well. still some acne on my back, but the best that i can remember. chest looks a lot better. face is awesome. but acne sometimes around my jawbone corners.

still love the Dr. Bronners pepermint soap.

also found a natural laundry soap that works great and is cheap.

oh and i will be trying 2 new products when they arrive.

hoping this will be a good spot treatment:

not that i have acne in my pits but i think is healthier than others:

I've never found someone else who new about all the wacky Vitamin Cottage-esque products I know about!

I LOVE Bronner's, but the bottle scares the hell out of me. I've also used the crystal stick. I like it quite a bit. Good luck!

Still loving these products

Burt's Bees shampoo, conditioner, and lip balm.

(the blemish stick seemed to make things worse.)

Dr Bronners peppermint

Cetaphil Gentle cleanser

Lily's Aloe Gel for hair gel

Olay face moisturizer

Crystal deodorant

Kiss My Face organic whitening toothpaste

(apparently fluoride is evil?)

7th Gen detergent

have slight breakouts once in awhile, but usually follow heavy drinking and/or lots of sugary junk food or just poor hygiene.

When I stick to my routine and decent diet, I enjoy clear skin

found a new decent brush. so far so good. last one was made so cheap broke right away. let's attach a rubber handle to a plastic neck with only 1/2 inch to glue it???

this one feels sturdy so far. could be stiffer i guess. kinda soft when wet, but if u use it "dry" it is stiffer.

Good one:

Gentle Bristle Back Brush

poorly made one. bristles are decent, but ends up half as long with no grip:
